COVID Survivors: What's Inevitable Besides Death And Taxes

A lot of us have speculated what the effects of the anti-mask and anti-vaccine campaigns are having among the righties. Certainly the COVID denialist campaigns have killed off a lot of denialists.

Despite the horrific casualties, I can’t help that there are going to be more than a few among the surviving former denialists. I’m sure that many will continue their love affair with the denialists, but I can’t help but wonder what the effects of damaged health and big whopping medical bills will be. Will they all remain in love with their theories about COVID and the”Libs,” or will a plurality have had a teaching moment?

Even if they were asymptomatic, there's a wide range of chronic conditions that a significant number of COVID survivors are dealing with. But most COVID deniers will probably claim it's something else, especially since a lot of them have brainwashed themselves to the idea that COVID was a plot by the "Deep State" or the Illuminati or the Liberal Commie Satanic Dems or groups like that.

It's a cult. Whatever happens, even if it's something that should disprove a belief in a reasonable person, just re-enforces their delusions.

So at most, it can only get 5 times worse in terms of medical costs and long term health effects.

Actually, it's likely that close to half have had Covid if you include asymptomatic and unreported cases, so we've likely incurred half the impact already.

About 13,000 cases for a population of 65,000. That's for Jan. 9th through the 22nd. Myself and a lot of people I know got it in December.

Omicron is just that widespread. So, it will be interesting to see 1. If Omicron results in similar long Covid problems, and 2. How much the vaccine mitigates its appearance.

Do we have data on that? Vaccine vs long Covid?

It's probably too early to say. Feels like we're going to see, though.
