Embedded video

I have emailed Merrill Lynch and Bank of America, asking them to confirm whether the man in the video is their employee James Iannazzo and, if so, what is their comment. Will post here if I receive response.

NEW: A spokesperson for Merrill Lynch emailed me this statement today about James Iannazo who was seen in a viral video:

“Our company does not tolerate behavior of this kind. We immediately investigated and have taken action. This individual is no longer employed at our firm.”

Scholarship Board of the Columbus Memorial Fund when he was a senior at Norwalk (CT) High School. All 10 members of the Columbus Scholarship Board and their titles like president, first vice president, second vice president etc. were also included in the brief newspaper article (https://newspaperarchive.com/norwalk-news-jul-03-1991-p-10/). They all had Italian surnames so I think you can easily guess the memorialized person was none other than Christopher Columbus, Italian Cristoforo Colombo.

In 2020, the city of Norwalk ordered the removal of the Christopher Columbus statue that was owned and dedicated to the city by the Columbus Memorial Fund in 1940. (A tidbit of 1940 history: March 18 – WWII: Axis powers: Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini meet at Brenner Pass in the Alps. After being informed by Hitler that the Germans are ready to attack in the west, Mussolini agrees to bring Italy into the war in due course. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1940)

The group that started the movement to have the CC statue removed is called CT Youth Activists. Here's their rationale:

it represented “violence, racism, marginalization, and the continued denial of the genocide of indigenous people.” The group called for the statue to be replaced by a monument to Norwalk’s original inhabitants, the Wappingers and Lanopes.

https://www.thehour.com/news/article/Norwalk-s-Columbus-statue-to-be-removed-15366079.php

Hmmm, perhaps one can glean from all of this that Mr. Iannazzo, being of patriotic Italian extraction, might have an issue with "fucking ignorant, immigrant high school bitches."

They do not get to eat take out or restaurant food. They do not get to go on sleep overs or play dates because of the risks of getting exposed to something they could react to. Their school has been informed so they can be protected from getting exposed.

I've made cookies for holidays for them and their mother was very detailed in her questioning about what the ingredients were and how I prepared them. She and the boys were so happy to have cookies that they could eat for holidays since they seldom get to have sweets at all.

My go-tos for them are oat flour oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips (made in a nut free factory) and meringue cookies with either the same chocolate chips or with peppermint candy canes broken up. The boys really like the meringue cookies - they can grab big handfuls and still don't get a lot of calories out of them.

Ordering a milkshake made in a place where a variety of nuts are used is just too risky. If it is true that his son had an allergic reaction, it is the father's fault. He was negligent. Why in the hell would he put his son at risk like that?

So the guy doesn't have the sense to make his severely allergic son a milkshake at home, and is probably constantly putting him at risk. And then he blames other people, is a racist pig, assaults minors, and has no anger control.

They aren't clairvoyant, he should have let them know. Most people who request that an ingredient be left out do so because they don't like the ingredient, not because they're allergic. It was on him to inform them that's not the case with this particular order.

If I had a kid who was deathly allergic to peanuts, I wouldn't be getting a smoothie at a place that uses peanuts. The risk of cross-contamination is too high, no matter how careful the workers are. This jackass could have made the kid's smoothies at home, but he couldn't be bothered with that I guess.

The other ingredients or the equipment most likely had some peanut residue or dust from other orders or from prep or whatever. Which is why you don't buy stuff for your kid who's deathly allergic to peanuts from a place that uses peanuts as an ingredient. You find a place that doesn't use peanuts as an ingredient, or you make the kid's smoothies at home.

The place sells smoothies full of peanut butter. If his son has a life-threatening peanut allergy the father was risking his son's life bringing him food from that store. Parents of kids with allergies are supposed to know this.

At best this shows very poor judgment on the father's part - even before he committed assault, battery and trespassing as shown in the video.

So the store personnel did not take the precautions they might have if they had known it for someone who was allergic. There are specific steps that are taken if an allergy is specified - or if it was not possible at that location, they can tell the customer that.

The failure to tell them the drink was for a very allergic person was on the father.

And they were talking about the Spanish flu pandemic and how folks got weary and angry. Like a normal human nature response to the stress of the pandemic.

Not sure I buy into it completely, but folks in general are angrier.

That said, the guy in the OP video is an ass.

I still say we should be able to handle acting with basic human decency.

using the term 'immigrant' as a pejorative - is sailing awfully darned close to racism. And Americans are generally not given to assuming people of Polish, Dutch or Irish extraction - are 'immigrant' based on their appearance.

I suppose there's an outside chance that you are right here. But it looks like pretty outside chance.

I'm sorry, but I don't think "immigrant" is a racist term in itself. You said that Americans are generally not given to calling someone of European origin an "immigrant" based on appearance, but they would if they heard a non-American accent.

True the word itself is not inherently racist in a technical sense. (as perhaps used in an academic or legal setting) In the context we are speaking of here? Bet 'yer ass! 99.9% of the time.

That is borderline. Yeah, it's not exactly polite, but calling someone an immigrant seems to be more classist than racist.

Was there more to it?

Since we don't know what the person looked like, it's hard to know. It could have been someone with an accent as much as a person with non-white skin or features.

Not saying it was right or justifiable. But he will probably get a better job offer than he had from some magat firm........

Still, the thought of his anger and misery are sweet.

Mon Jan 24, 2022, 01:28 AM

Nut allergies are SERIOUS. Maybe even life threatening for some. Sparkly's nice has them big time. When she was a teen, she was visiting here and wanted a jelly sandwich. I got out the jelly she chose. She asked if we'd ever maybe possibly just by chance dipped the knife into the peanut butter before using it in the jelly. GoT make sure she was safe, we gout a new, unopened jar of jelly. That incident has stuck with me for decades.

Knowing my sister-in-law, they were VERY careful about this sort of thing. I'd say it would have been impossible they went into a place where nuts and almond milk and who knows what else is used regularly and order a specialty drink to go for their kid with a nut allergy.

Mr. Innazzo, in my opinion, is lying.

If you really are a parent of a child that has allergies like this you will know going into a chain store or a local store that a lot of the products are made around nuts. You would not be buying from a store you would be making the stuff at home with the right and safe ingredients. You wouldn't be a total fucking Idiot and take a risk buying something from a store that is exposed around such items for allergies. Hes a two bit shithead liar and now he'll be the victim because the right wing nutjobs always coddle these losers.
