The coming anti LGBTQ backlash

The 1970's were actually a pretty good decade for LGBTQ people. We saw some laws protecting us get adopted at the local level (Dade County, Topeka to name two), some early elected officials, and the beginnings of fighting for our rights. Then the back lash came. Dade County repealed its ordinance, as did Topeka. AIDS hit which made us spend time on survival instead of fighting for our rights. It took until the late 1980's and into the 1990's to get back to we seemed to be heading in the 1970's.

Then we saw progress again, and won some major victories and now we see the back lash again. Now we are seeing laws that are literally forbidding the mere mention of LGBTQ people in education. I am old enough to remember what school was like when we didn't officially exist. I had hoped I wouldn't see it again as an employee. We are in danger of losing it all.
