Am I the only one who thinks that these winter olympics

are a horrendous mistake???
I fear for the athletes and for the technicians that are there for the broadcasts. Notice NBC and ESPN are willing to sacrifice technicians but not the on-air folks.

it killed the vibe of it to have olympics every two years instead of every four. These should have been canceled.

I loved watching the Olympics growing up. They definitely lost something when they switched to every 2 years. That and the fact IOC keeps awarding them to countries with horrible human rights abuses.

A relative who does sound production work was sent from home on the east coast to Vegas for a show production gig. Was supposed to be a week. Just as they got set up, he and others on the production team came down with Covid and got quarantined to their hotel room. Production cancelled. Then, after 5 days, even though he was still testing positive, they put him and others on planes back home. Anyone wonder why we can't get this pandemic under control, wonder no more.

No Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinsky talking throughout the whole routines. But then I heard they would be doing it remotely I got sad about it.

But I generally hit mute for 30 seconds to stop the constant talking over the musical performances. PET PEEVE of mine!

Most of the sports involved have been fairly successfully running full slates of competitions this year: skiing, sliding, boarding, skating.

Athletes are vaccinated, they're young and in extraordinary condition. Not many co-morbidities to be found.

It's not a horrendous mistake. The mistake was giving the Winter Olympics to the RCC, just like giving it to Putin in Sochi was. The ICC have no ethics.

China has a "Zero-Covid" policy that would make Anti-Mandate nutjobs in Amurka & Yurup lose their minds. More than they already have, if that's possible.

We've already had a summer Olympics in this mess. Most of the sports are carrying on. China wasn't the most fortuitous choice, but that decision was made ages ago. We have vaccinations, boosters, etc. Time to start returning to some normalcy. I don't get leaving the on air people at home, but whatever.
