I do not understand how your employer buying you a pizza is confirming your thought of exploitation.

When working a bunch of hours we frequently buy lunch. We have a large BBQ pit and sometimes we buy some chicken/ribs or something similar and do it that way. Sometimes we wander over to a local eatery and do it that way. And ... heaven forbid sometimes we buy pizza.

You want to know how you knowe you are being exploited?

You do not make a fair wage.
You have no health benefits.
You have no personal time off.
You have no paid Holidays.
You have no bonus structure.
You do not regular evaluations/raises.

Some dickhead makes you "clock out" for lunch, penalizes your wages when you are "late", forces you to work off the "clock", talks to you with disrespect.

Buying a pizza ... not so much.

Exploited was certainly the wrong word there. And I certainly didn’t mind getting catered luncheon,it was just Pizza late at night it gets on your nerves when you know you’re not gonna have time to eat it Certainly sounds to me like you’re trying to do the right thing

Unfortunately many workers in America are exploited, and no one "wins" until those unfair practices are eliminated ... for all.

Strong unions and higher minimum wages are the LEAST we can do to begin to make that happen. Unfortunately having to "compete" with offshored service/production drives a race to the bottom when it comes to fair compensation/treatment in the workplace.

I have been very lucky to have been able to develop skills which are not easily replaced and compels my employer to compensate me well. For many this is an impossible task as the bottom line is what many employers value more than anything else.

Never heard of such a thing, but I do not work in a setting which would allow me to work and eat at the same time.

It is for dealing so valiantly with the struggles of the pandemic while maintaining our grace.

In reality it is dealing with every day decisions, sometimes fending for ourselves because middle and upper management cannot be communicated with in a timely manner because they are indisposed in their remote workplace.

I hope things change. I would actually take a pay cut to have things return to where they were years ago. At least my peace of mind would have made a comeback.

The company I worked for at the time worked 7 days no holidays off.
We were working labor day and management was at home.
They bought us pizza. I was suppose to go pick it up for my crew. I told them they would have to get someone else to do that job. What you don't want Pizza. No thank you.
They did not do it the next year.

Food is very inexpensive in America. There is a reason for that also.

I work for a large engineering firm, when we need people to come in on Saturdays to meet a milestone, we order good food for them, like a spread of Mexican or Chinese food. But more than that what they need to see is management working with them. Good leadership knows this, good leadership leads by example and shares the sacrifice with the workers. So these managers could have been at the store filling in, sharing the burden, taking shifts so their workers can have some time off. If they had been doing that they also would know that their employees are worth more money than they're paying them.

The Republican Party has conducted a war on workers for 45 years now, they've spent all their time belittling workers and arguing that they deserve less than they get. The American Dream used to be that anyone who wants to work can earn a living that would afford them a dignified existence. Republicans replaced that with all out hate for workers.

Us nurses: “You’ve got to work on your days off; mandatory overtime, no hazard pay. Since we’re also short staffed, we’re also bringing in travel nurses who will make 6-8x your hourly rate but we won’t pay you any extra. We know you’re supposed to get lunches and breaks, by law, but you won’t have time to eat. Here’s free pizza, anyway.”

Yes, American corporate culture is poisonous. It is. We are born, we go to a school to learn enough to be 'workers,' then we are sentenced to work for 50 years. After which we get a pension called Social Security that barely pays the bills and keeps us in grinding poverty. We have Medicare, but it is massively confusing to the point where you have to get a book or lawyer up to even understand it, and it has holes that could bankrupt you. WHY???

Now, we are told that we 'can't afford' to expand Social Security and Medicare, but we CAN afford trillions on forever wars and frivolous tax cuts weighted toward benefitting billionaires.

So...where IS our healthcare? Where are the subsidies for childcare so our kids and grandkids don't have to spend an arm and a leg on childcare just so they can work? Where is our dental care? Vision? And where are the defined benefit pensions? Why are corporations allowed to cut our hours so they don't have to give us benefits? Why is pay so low for the workers while CEOs earn in the millions? Why is that?

If government is a service, and we individual taxpayers pay in 86% of the tax revenue, WHY don't those we elect enact laws that materially benefit us? This IS a government of, by and for the people. Isn't it????

Our whole corporate culture, because the shareholder is king, and profits are ALWAYS counted as being more important than people, is a system of slavery - wage slavery.

And now, as workers are voting with their feet, and winning the battle, swinging the pendulum back just a tiny bit to their benefit, we are threatened with a war with Russia - a war that offers at best a Pyrrhic victory for us, and will likely result in bringing down the republic. We are split with one whole political party not in support of democracy, and they will NOT have Biden's back. Millions of Fox 'news' viewers are actually rootin' for Putin, you know?

If we end up in a war in the middle of a pandemic the Republicans have made sure isn't gonna end anytime soon, because they don't want to take no vaccine or wear no masks, 'cause their free-dumb, you know, then we are truly fucked. We working class stiffs will end up sucking wind, BUT THE OLIGARCHS WILL DO JUST FINE.

WHY, BY ANY STRETCH IS THIS OK? WHY DOES THE MEDIA NOT TELL US THE TRUTH?

OH, THEY ARE ALL CORPORATE OWNED.

So, yeah, right now I'm not feeling too good about these fucks. And you might not like 'the squad,' but AOC is goddamned right when she says that every billionaire is a failure in policy. That is NO SHIT.

I always just give a neutral-to-good survey at my place of work. I’ve heard of people being fired for writing even innocent, slightly negative reviews.

I think the surveys are used to show others how great a place is - especially if it’s a garbage work environment. It’s a Saddam Hussein style, “give us your opinion as we watch over your shoulder” kind of thing.

These are not anonymous, and can probably be used against you.

I suspect that this employee works at pretty much every company in the nation.

I used to work for a company that required employees to complete quarterly surveys like this, answering questions on a 1 to 5 scale with space for additional comments, and anonymous response was not allowed.

When employees expressed concerns about repercussions, the company assured them that it would not retaliate against employees for their responses.

Then, amazingly, they got 500 surveys returned in which every question was answered with a 3.
