that is built on the deaths of Floridians.

9. Why not? Trump did it in 2020.
The lies in the Desantis tweets sound exactly like someone building up an attack on Biden for a presidential run.
We better trash and squash him before he gets too big of a following outside of Florida. Truth alone won't do it. There needs to be an emotional appeal. We could point out how damaging the Trump lies were and paint Desantis with the same brush. A grave warning tone that we don't want that again. Desantis will play youth against age with Biden. We could emphasize knowledge, experience, and accomplishments of Biden against Desantis' brash lies. |

Cult 101. Start with the little stuff, then ramp it up gradually.
The deeper people get in this crap, the more committed they become to it. It becomes part of their everyday life. He's building an army of mindless followers. |

in attempt to convince gullible voters that De Santis cares about these issues and is not at fault in any way.

6. Most repugs are spewing outrageous lies because that is all they have AND most importantly,
they have a cult base that believes the lies as fact. It's a win-win for them. I honestly don't know how we as Democrats fight the lies. Truth doesn't seem to matter with the cult.

Exposing damaging lies that are destroying democracy needs its own think tank. I also feel the amount of dark money in politics is also responsible for its destruction.

30. Counterprop works when it is True, Fast, Targetted, Concise
Look it up. Truth does matter to them in the long run. Not the short or medium run. But truth peels off sheep from the cult all the time. They believe the lies as if they were truth, because they've been emoted into them, not reasoned into them. There are some who will try to apply reason in the form of memorized talking points and rebuttals, but we see the big picture. Most of them claim to see the big picture, but it boils down to huge untenable conspiracies. "Fauci collaborated with the Chinese to make a few million bucks." But thousands of doctors would have to be in on it. "Nothing's impossible for such evil people." Query them and they will pile one outlandish lie on top of another. You can quickly point out to them the pile of crap. But they will pivot and gish gallop. Give them as much as patience allows, then depart. And every opportunity, tell them they've been lied to. It gives them a way to save face and exit the cult. "Hey loser with the mask, whatcha fraid of?" "You've been lied to." "Whoa, what?" "You've been lied into contradicting your own common sense." The cult is not gaining anybody. Who they've got now is all they've got. Everybody knows magats. Few know any magats who got converted after about 2018. |

10. He may be losing popularity
I was keeping up with his approval polls for a while and was continually mystified that they stayed above 50%. I also saw a couple of comments saying he was one of the most popular governors in the country. The article suggests otherwise and if accurate, he may be reacting to it, same as Trump would.

11. We have about half of voters who prefer lies to truth.
Otherwise, Democrats would have won more Senate seats in 2020 and Biden would have won by much larger margins. While they are not a majority, they keep Republicans in power and all Republicans and their voters care about is culture wars. They’re willing to watch the country disintegrate around them so long as they can feel superior to minorities and believe that they’ll be able to force their religious beliefs into law with this Supreme Court.
The question is how to reach at least some people who seem not to have a care about the non-culture issues the country faces, especially old infrastructure, the vulnerability of our old energy grids to hacking for ransom but also for cyber warfare, climate warming, and the threats posed by Russia and China. Republicans have written themselves out of governing on these issues because of their anti-government stance and supporting white supremacy. |

14. K and R ...De Santis is sucking up to Trump..that's what it is...That's all of it.
De Santis knows that Trump is the leader, and this is the homage that De Santis is willing to pay....All De Santis
wants is the nomination for President to lead the Republican Party... .....De Santis knows what he is doing, and he has to do it, while Trump is the boss...De Santis knows that he can change the tune, when he gets the nomination for being the "...New Leader.." but for now, he believes he needs to get the approval of the ..."Old Leader".. ......Once De Santis gets the nomination to be President...from the ..."PUKE PARTY".....then he will renounce Donald Trump..and say some kind of very weak apology. ........MOST IMPORTANT...DE SANTIS KNOWS HE CAN GET AWAY WITH IT,..... SINCE DEEP DOWN, THE REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP.... THE RICH AND POWERFUL ......KNOW THAT DONALD TRUMP HAS WORN OUT HIS WELCOME, AND THE RICH AND POWERFUL LEADERS REALLY WANT TO GET RID OF DONALD TRUMP....ONCE AND FOR ALL TIME......WHY IS THAT TRUE???? THE RICH AND POWERFUL LEADERS OF THE PUKE PARTY,...KNOW THAT DONALD TRUMP IS............... .........A KILLER, A LIAR, A FOOL, AND THE VERY LAST PERSON THEY WANT TO LEAD THE REPUBLICAN PARTY.......... .............AND WE ALL KNOW THAT TRUMP IS WHAT HE IS.....AND THAT IS WHY DE SANTIS NEEDS TO SUCK UP TO TRUMP FOR NOW,....... BUT THAT WILL ALL CHANGE WHEN DE SANTIS IS THE LEADER...AND TRUMP IS GONE...... ...........It really is not that complicated.....Is it?................................. |

16. He's terrified Floridians will start dying in droves based on his foolish decision.
He didn't obtain multiple antibody treatments - just Regeneron because that owner is his major donor. He should have purchased more types because one of the three still works - Sotovirab (may not have the spelling right?). He thought this would save us from not getting vaxxed - WRONG! The virus is NOT going down here and now up to 2000 people may be hitting the hospitals that wouldn't have gone there if he'd invested less moronically. Son of a bitch!!

28. I think he recently had COVID & isn't fully recovered.
DeathSantis disappeared for 2 weeks & when he reappeared he said he was with his wife while she was having cancer treatments. In pics of the 2 of them right afterward she looks bright & chipper & he's the one who looks sickly. Seriously, what kind of cancer is there where you finish treatment in 2 weeks & you're all fine? I believe it was a lie, a cover story designed to gain sympathy for him. His idiot base will say "Oh, he's such a good man, he took 2 weeks off to be with his wife while she had cancer treatments." Bullshit. I'm convinced he was the one getting treatment, for COVID. He held a press conference soon afterward & he was clearly, & I mean CLEARLY gasping for air & struggling to breathe. It's on video.

34. Republicans/Conservatives no longer follow traditional electoral strategy.
You win elections by getting more people to vote for you than your opponent. Traditionally it has been a race to convince more voters to cast their ballot for you and your party.
Republicans really stopped doing that after Reagan's term. Get a Republican politician drunk enough and they will admit that their policies do not work for the vast majority of American people. They tend to opt for a strategy of riling up their smaller but more excitable base and then they engage in a bunch of dirty tricks to try to suppress Democratic votes in order to win. This is what it seems, DeSantis is working on. He is deliberately and dishonestly trying to create an acrimonious situation with the Biden Administration so that he can prove to the Conservative base that he is "fighting for them". It really doesn't matter that what he is saying is blatantly dishonest and easily debunked. The audience he is trying to reach and secure does not care one whit about honesty. He is relying on this base of support and the schemes that Republicans have been carrying out in the states, to suppress votes and/or simply reject the will of the people and switch out the electors. DeSantis is a stupid man, but he is not unintelligent. This is a deliberate strategy to appeal to the ignorant and stupid base of voters who put Trump in the White House. |
