General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have no "evidence" to support this, but believe it to be true: the smarmy slanderous attacks
Senators will hurl at ANYONE President Biden nominates to fill Justice Breyer's seat on the SCOTUS are either already written or will be by "Rachel time" this evening. They will just "fill in the blank" when a nominee is named.
As our POTUS pledged to nominate a black woman, the words "too extreme", "radical liberal" and "socialist" will undoubtedly be mentioned in every speech in opposition to the nominee. That's the "out loud" part.
The "quiet part" will be heard from the Right Wing Echo Chamber on cable and the internet and will consist of smirky disingenuous references to "shrill tone", "inner city experience", "anti-white sentiment" and, of course, "hormones".
Smart Democrats will use this racist misogyny against their Trump party opponents and hang a few of their nastiest quotes around their necks. There are still more good people than bad in this country, but many are too busy putting food on the table and shoes on the kids to keep track of just how mean-spirited these people really are.
It is up to us to inform them.

(9,340 posts)You can bet Hamnitty and Tuckyo Rose will be all over that tonight. It's what they do. Slander without proof. Or slander to the extreme to get more attention from both their sheep and the right-wing media.

(50,921 posts)As you say, the word "shrill" will be used a lot, along with "hysterical" but these will not be applied to her directly. They will be used to describe her supporters and the discussion around her.

(53,743 posts)continue to ok Biden's judicial appointments as they have been. This will be another test for them as they've flunked the ones on the voting rights and BBB bills.
Many here want to jettison them as being nothing but DINOs. Other's want to keep them in our camp as they've been okaying Biden's judge picks. If they keep that up with this critical SCOTUS pick, the justification for not ostracizing them is will be will be proven correct.
Let's see what happens. I wonder if they anticipated being put under the intense glare these votes of theirs focus on them?
If they abandon Joe on this, there will no longer be a reason niceties towards them.

(32,598 posts)Three words: Amy Coney Barrett. In spite of all media uproar, she got Senate approval in a relatively short time with little push-back from the minority party.

(53,743 posts)push back because we didn't have the votes to stop McTurtle from rushing Coney Barrett onto the court with RBG just days in her grave, and despite there being just weeks left in trump's term, his justification before for not bringing Obama's choice to the Senate floor before.
Now it works the other way because we aren't the minority.
