It's not like the balance on the court will change.

He might figure to get more political mileage by uttering some platitude about "the president deserves to confirm a qualified nominee" then orchestrating a vote of 93-7 or something.

Pick someone closer to the center and there's a chance to sometimes get to 5-4 with Roberts and Kavanaugh joining the liberals.
