(15,058 posts)He would absolutely do that. I will not breathe easy until we have Breyer's replacement confirmed.

(6,795 posts)Barrett and Kavanaugh are jarred out of their ill-gotten positions along with the endlessly entertaining Thomas. I'm on a fantasy roll.

(2,322 posts)In prior interviews. If the Repukes take back the Senate, he's hinted that he won't consider any SCOTUS nominees for Biden during next Congress. I would be willing to bet that he'd amend that to not considering any court nominees at all, SCOTUS or otherwise.
I despise McConnell with a passion that I cannot begin to describe. I mean I loathe tRump, but I hate McConnell by orders of magnitude more.

(32,556 posts)More than likely Stephen Breyer decided to retire NOW just to be sure that Biden got the pick, rather than wait a year or two and lose it to asshole McConnell.
Thank you Justice Stephen Breyer!

(9,958 posts)Thomas is 73 and Alito 71. Im hoping, though, that the January 6 Commission unearths some direct links between Ginni Thomas and the insurrection. He might consider retiring to get her out of the limelight.

(6,785 posts)I was also hoping that some actual criminal activity could be pinned on hin - I'm sure it exists - but certainly her activities are screaming violations of not just ethics (and SCOTUS doesn't have any code of ethics) but also law.
