Florida Democrats refused to participate in a vote to confirm Joseph Ladapo on Wednesday, walking out of the hearing for Gov. Ron DeSantis’ pick for surgeon general. Ladapo, a vax skeptic who previously refused to mask up around a cancer-suffering lawmaker, declined to answer many questions from Democrats during the testy hearing before a Senate committee. He repeatedly refused to say if he regretted the way he treated Sen. Tina Polsky while she was undergoing cancer treatment. He also refused to give a “yes” or “no” answer on whether COVID vaccines are effective. “We don’t feel that we’re getting any answers,” Sen. Lauren Book said. “The Florida Senate Democrats in this committee now are going to abstain, walk out and come back when we have more business.” Dems are in the minority in the committee so their votes are inconsequential but Republicans nonetheless pushed a vote through quickly while they were out of the room. The full Senate will vote at a later date.

It is a state that is so enamored of keeping power within small circles that it resists any real effort for change. And Florida Democrats in the past caved in too quickly to the libertarian style that was working its way through the state, first by destroying community development agencies. Some of those Dems became the face of the destruction, much like using minorities, like Clarence Thomas, to throw people off the scent.

Yes, it's a broken state. We will need help from outside. And it will be painful because it might require kicking DINOs in the balls. Someone needs to teach them to take their principles seriously.

A judge appointed by Scott upheld the ass' request to not count a large box of votes in the most heavily Democratic county in FL, found in the post office, hidden by someone. Nelson would have theoretically won the state with 70-75% of those votes, he was only behind Scott by a few thousand votes. Nelson would counteract that other Senator and we'd have Build Back Better done! There are 52 billionaires in FL and they control all of our politics and judges and they cheat all the time.

to someone who said "FUCK YOU!" to our face. It often got colorful.

That's what this Ladapo clown just said to the Democrats.

What will actually happen here is still very uncertain as far as I can see. But to have a guy as wacked out as this as their so called
"surgeon general" is way off the charts. Pretty scary and I try not to think about it too much as it makes my stomach ache.

His appointment to that post was announced back in September, over 4 months ago, and they're just now getting around to confirming him? I always assumed his confirmation was a foregone conclusion anyway, but I'm mildly surprised that they waited this long.

Cant it be revoked…for not believing in medicine??

It’s like an engineer not believing in gravity but still calls himself and engineer…and he better not have a license.
