SiriusXM to debut 'Neil Young Radio' after he parts ways with Spotify

Neil Young is getting his own channel on SiriusXM, a day after Spotify said it was removing the “Heart of Gold” songwriter’s music after he protested vaccine misinformation on the streaming service.

The channel, dubbed "Neil Young Radio," will run for a week starting on Thursday, SiriusXM announced. The channel — which will feature “music and exclusive stories” from the musician — will also be available for a month on the SXM app.

The channel, SiriusXM teased, “will provide fans access to the entire musical world” of Young, including “rarities and exclusives,” along with stories from him about his songs.

The move comes a day after Spotify said it was eliminating the 76-year-old performer’s music after Young delivered an ultimatum that it could not provide a platform to both him and Joe Rogan.

Also, Sirius has worse guys than Rogan on its platform.

In other words, its a money play, just like what Spotify did.

The Fake News Channel. With *ucker ... and Insanity.

But SXM has Stern.

SXM could have Neil Young Radio on the app permanently IMO

He was there earlier today, barely there now. I hate seeing Neil leave Spotify but I get it... looks like maybe Sirius isn't much better though.

Neil with many Nash duets, CSNY, as well as Crosby duets. They haven’t found those yet. I lost a lot of Neil, but I own every CD or Album he has done. Personally I love Spotify, just for music. That’s all I listen to, is the music. Amazing how much I have been exposed to, most people never hear. I also love Sirius. Just don’t listen to what I don’t like. I’ve spent hundreds of hours creating hand picked play lists. averaging 700+ plus songs per list. My song list I perform if full of music most never heard of. I carry my mini juke box, ( Cell phone) every wear I bike, ski hike and camp. I remember when AM was my only access to mobile music. Then great FM, depending on where ya live. Then 8 track, cassettes, CD’s but now all I need is my phone and Bose wireless headphones. I have the greatest music ever made anywhere I go, most importantly in my forests. Fuck Rogen. He will not take away my music. Sure, Apple, Sirius and many others are there. Are they all angels? Spent Way too much time creating my multiple playlists searching hours for Unknow artists. Now they give lyrics as well. Boycott if ya like, switch providers, but I am keeping my juke box just like it is. Why not throw the damn TV out the door, cause it has 100’s of Jesus channels, and Fox. We could boycott ourselves right into cave dwelling if we like. Is it gonna change anything? Fuck Rogen and all the right wing shit on Sirius. It never hits my ears. Rock on, never gong back to AM. Now FM is all commercial, country and other crap. Hate me if ya like. Keeping my Spotify, and kudos for Neil. Love him. I could stop listening to anything that plays Clapton. Maybe should. Ain’t gonna change his stupid beliefs. White wing nuts are not gonna control my life. Boycott Apple, any corporation. It’s a free world.

Hope they let him do what Billy Joel does when they have his channel - and that they play music he was influenced by, artists he respects, and artist in the same vein.

Full disclosure - I am a Spotify subscriber for over a year, however I've never listened to Joe Rogan and I probably never will. My interest in Spotify is their extensive library of European and worldwide artists and musical styles, while Sirius offers very little non-American, non-English-language music. (I listen to a lot of German folk music.) Maybe that has changed since I first gave Sirius a try a couple years ago, but I doubt it. Also I'm not a fan of Howard Stern, and I really dislike "talk radio" of any kind.

So in solidarity with Neil Young I'm glad that he doesn't have to give up his income-stream, and he was able to find another way to reach fans through Sirius. Maybe more politically liberal artists will do the same.
