1. How much was spent on the McGrath loss last time? $88,000,000?

These tilting windmill races started going nuts in 2018.

Despite McGrath trailing by double digits, McConnell had to rig the results to win. /s

2. Pretty much in line with the 2020 numbers

McConnell beat McGrath 58-38% so Paul can probably expect a similar outcome.

16. I meant this polling compared to the final 2020 results

I expect the polling to be off a few points in the Democrat’s favor, since enthusiasm and motivation for the party in power are typically less in an actual midterm turnout.

4. He may do a couple points better than McGrath but thinking he has a shot of winning is dreaming.

I think he's great, but I hope people don't pour a bunch of money into a race that's not going to be close.

5. How do we explain the present Governor of Kentucky winning his race?
Fri Jan 28, 2022, 11:05 AM
Jan 2022

He wasn't connected to the Democrats in Washington.

He didn't have a $100 million dollars.

He was a virtual unknown.

But, he still won.

Is the answer in the question?

Bevin was the least popular governor in the United States, with only a 33% approval rating in April 2019.

Particularly, Bevin picked a fight with the teachers, and it backfired.

Keep in mind that Beshear won by only a few thousand votes, though. Thank goodness those folks got to the polls. I can only imagine going through the pandemic here in Kentucky with both Trump and Bevin at the helm.

10. But that was about the same approval rating that Mitch McConnell had before his race...

..with Amy McGrath.

I think Kentuckians do not want much to do with Democrats that are too close to the Democrats in Washington, such as Schumer, Pelosi, and Biden. They prefer someone outside the present political circles. Just my opinion.

Turn out is lower than presidential years and even the midterms. In 2019 he got lucky the incumbent was very unpopular and even then still barely won. I would maybe expect it to go back Republican in 2023, but he still has a 54% approval rating, a tossup would be a safe bet this far out.

I wish that Beshear would run for KY Senate. He'd be awesome.

Let's face it - there's a large segment of the population in KY who aren't going to vote for a POC. Ever.
