Yesterday I had a hernia operation

While I was being wheeled in to operating room the doctors had this song on.

I don’t think I will ever not hear that song again and not be reminded of this operation. I asked them before they put me under to play a Bruno Mars song. I couldn’t laugh because i was still kind of under whatever they had me but they played a Bruno Mars as they were wheeling me out of the operating room. While I was recovery room I asked my nurse if they had Covid cases and she told me it was a another floor but cases are slowly going down.

Before I was with in the prep room other patients were getting knee replacements and a woman got a full hysterectomy. The also told me they were glad they didn’t have to treat anymore Covid cases.

I had hernia surgery about ten years ago. All went well but it took me about two weeks to feel consistently good and strong.

Allow yourself plenty of rest.

Take care.

That's why you need to take it easy, stay in your jammies and just lounge around. My only surprise was the fatigue after surgery. If you try to do too much? Your body will definitely let you know in a wave of crushing fatigue. My pain eased off after about 2 or 3 days. The important thing is keeping the wound as clean as you can, changing the dressing every morning. It makes getting the sutures or staples out so much easier.

You'll get there. Just be a slacker for the next 10-14 days.

Hernia surgery right before Xmas about 6-7 years ago.

It's 12/25 and my wife is doing dishes and she says we don't have any hot water. I hoist myself off the couch and hobble to the basement - water is pouring out of the hot water tank. I scramble to the water line and shut everything off.

Went back upstairs to the couch and opened my laptop. I ordered a new tank and called my uncle. After three trips to Home Depot and one to Busy Beaver, the tank was installed on 12/26.

If it weren't for my uncle's expertise and my son's strength, the holidays would have been ruined.

One of the most amusing parts was that I was third in line for new hot water tanks that morning.

Having to deal with home repairs must have been stressful.

I just had a new water heater replaced recently. Luckily I had put the mailer from a company on the door where the water heater is located, called them and they installed it the same day. I was fearful it couldn’t be done for a few days.
