Fri Jan 28, 2022, 03:34 PM
Jan 2022

Fetterman's statement pointed to the disaster as proof of "why infrastructure bills like the one President Biden signed into law last year are so important."

"Too often, D.C. politics can feel like insider baseball—and Pennsylvanians are left wondering how abstract legislation helps them," he continued. "But here, the answer is clear. As a result of Biden's infrastructure bill, the state is now getting $1.6 billion to repair bridges like this one."

"Now more than ever, we need to get to work. We need to make use of the legislation President Biden ushered in, rebuild our roads and bridges, and fix our faulty infrastructure," Fetterman added. "In Pittsburgh, in Pennsylvania, and across America, we cannot afford neglect any longer. It's time to rebuild this nation."

Campaign on it.
This is who, those PA voters sent to DC, forgot about as soon as they got comfy in their Capitol offices.

Obviously not the folks back home in their States or Districts.

He's not just another candidate for Senate, he's the second highest ranking elected official in the State of Pennsylvania, Lieutenant Governor.

Conor Lamb was there this afternoon.

I mean, he's running for the US Senate seat and if he won, it would mean that he would represent the entire state. The same would be true if John Fetterman won.

But for now, Lamb represents PA-17 which is the northwestern part of Allegheny County and Beaver County, while Mike Doyle (D) represents PA-18, which is the city of Pittsburgh and southern Allegheny County. John Fetterman is Lt. Governor for the state, and also he's the former mayor of Braddock, a blue-collar suburb that's only a few miles from this bridge collapse.

I live in the City of Pittsburgh and I can say without reservation that bridge refurbishment and rebuilding has been a major effort all over the county for the last 11 or 12 years, ever since the disastrous Minneapolis bridge collapse. Our county engineers went out and inspected every bridge in our county (we have probably 1,000 aging bridges) and they were shocked to see how many of those structures were in bad shape. It's a very scary thing, but the majority of our bridges have been repaired and re-inspected since then.

Not sure if all those people fled Braddock or if the town was broken up. From what I read, Fetterman never got more than about a thousand votes for Mayor.

"Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, a leading Senate candidate, and state Attorney General Josh Shapiro, the likely Democratic nominee in the race for governor, will be absent because of scheduling conflicts, according to their spokespeople.

Another top Senate candidate, Rep. Conor Lamb, a longtime Biden supporter based in Pittsburgh, will attend, his office confirmed. All three had been invited to participate in a photo line with the president."

This opportunity should not have been missed.

In a show of "respect", he's sitting FRONT row center wearing shorts, black sneakers and no socks!

Watching it on C-Span2.

Speakers:

Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf
Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey
Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald
Senator Bob Casey
Training Officer for United Steelworkers Local 1557 JoJo Burgess
And of course, President Joe Biden

Those defending him against critcs for his attire, all I gotta say is, for a man who made a snap judgment about someone based solely on what he “looked like” - turnabout is fair play.

Fetterman showed up dressed as he did for the PR. 1st he was too busy to attend, then he suddenly stops by wearing noticeably different attire from everyone else.
It's like what Gov Rauner did..

I was hoping he'd make a statement emphasizing thr R's NO vote on BIF.
It'd be a great lead-in to his campaign.
We'll be waiting for that slogan.

It's bad enough that they take credit for things they didn't do, but overall they pretty much don't do anything - campaign, fund raise, Tweet, appear on cable news, and obstruct legislation. They actually get paid for that as if it was a real occupation.
