Navarro subpoenaed. Is he big enough to fall into DU's proverbial "big fish" category? (Original Post) Beastly Boy Feb 2022 OP
I don't know about the big fish category but mnmoderatedem Feb 2022 #1
No doubt. But that would not be a sign of the Congressional Committee or DOJ unwilling to go after Beastly Boy Feb 2022 #3

The criticism is about DOJ. They are not the same thing and should not be conflated. One investigates for the public record. The other prosecutes.

Not only are they not the same thing, but they belong to different branches of government, and therefore represent different interests. Sadly, the two are often conflated on DU (yourself being a welcome exception)..

These Congressional subpoenas are toothless and almost useless. Even if Navarro is ever indicted and convicted, it’s only a misdemeanor. Since the House has ruled out using “inherent contempt” to detain these bums, the only subpoena that counts is one from a Grand Jury, which constitutes a felony if ignored.

which tells me, if they do, that the select committee knows that DOJ has no plans to prosecute Navarro. At this late stage of the game I believe the select committee wants to reveal the facts, the crimes, to the American people even if no one gets prosecuted, what else can they do? They are doing a fantastic job.

Navarro is one of the Crazy Pants Dudes and he's fully on the Trump Train.

Unless they can threaten him with a felony of some kind to force his cooperation, I think he'll just give them a big middle finger and go on his way. He has already claimed that he's hiding under the Executive Privilege umbrella.

he wrote a book and went on TV spilling his guts.

Also, executive privilege doesn't apply when it's used to hide criminal behavior.

so yes in that regard he is a Big Fish. I heard from msnbc that the select committee is considering giving immunity to Navarro which means DOJ won't be able to prosecute him. Navarro isn't a lawyer he's a snake oil salesman who may spill the beans on Trump without realizing it. He was in the room with the Kraken and Flynn and Trump.

and he said, dare I repeat it, that DOJ isn't doing investigations. I know I know how does he know?

The real tell will come if the select committee starts giving immunity to people, if it does, it means that DOJ isn't investigating. We may know shortly.

I don't understand what people are talking about. We know they are investigating the fake electors. He has charged people with seditious conspiracy. Garland told us he will follow the evidence were ever it goes. There is no way in hell Garland cannot investigate the top coup plotters. It would be dereliction of duty. He would be fired by Biden.
