Shut down the mother truckers blockade with some of the worst songs in the history of music...

Let's all play along.

New Zealand is playing Barry Manilow on a constant loop to annoy the truckers and keep them from blocking streets.

I think this is a wonderful idea (sorry for those who live in the area) and I have a few suggestions as to songs that we & our neighbors to the north could play.

I'll start, but I'm hopeful all of you can add to our playlist. Here we go:

1 "Tip toe thru the tulips" by Tiny Tim

2 "They're coming to take me away, ha ha" by Napoleon XIV

3 "Dead Skunk in the middle of the road" by Louden Wainwright III

4 "Does your chewing gum lose it's flavor on the bedpost overnight?" by Lonnie Donegan

5 "Muskrat Love" by Captain & Tennille

and finally for me...

6 "Camp Grenada (hello Muddah, hello Faddow)

Please add more, we could drive these fools nuts.

that Lennon was the lyricist.

A lot of McCartney's songs just repeat the phrase over and over. Some are just a lot less annoying than that Christmas tune.

124. Or "You're Having My Baby" by the Hallelujah Tabernacle Choir!

If you don't recognize the reference, it's from the pilot episode of WRKP in Cincinnati:

As Johnny cues up The Hallelujah Tabernacle Choir singing "You're Having My Baby", the record jacket he's holding is actually a Capitol Records LP titles "Concerto Under the Stars" featuring pianist Leonard Pennario and conductor Carmen Dragon. Carmen Dragon was the father of keyboardist Daryl Dragon...the "Captain" of Captain and Tenille.

108. I was a jock on an FM top 40 station when most of those were hits.

Try playing Starland Vocal Band every 90 minutes. I couldn’t change the station; it was the only one coming out of the monitors. I was music director, too. That meant I had to move it from hot rotation to recurrents and keep it on the air, when even the sales people were sick of it.

They’d bitch, and I’d say “How do you think I feel? By the time most of this stuff becomes a big hit, I’m ALREADY sick of it.”

Possibly the worst song ever written.

Too bad Vogon poetry isn't a real thing. All they'd have to do would be to get someone out there to read it using a bull horn on the first day, and that would be the end of it.

17. I remember Noriega

"How The U.S. Military Used Guns N' Roses To Make A Dictator Give Up"

"Here's a small sampling of the playlist designed to send Noriega a musical message:

"Give It Up," by K.C. And The Sunshine Band, "No More Mister Nice Guy," by Alice Cooper, and "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath. You get the drift. When the troops started coming in from the field, the requests became quite imaginative," it said in dry, military-speak. The favorites included "Welcome to the Jungle," by Guns N' Roses, "Wanted Dead Or Alive," by Bon Jovi, and "The End" by The Doors."

"After several days on the run, Noriega was allowed to enter the Vatican Embassy on Christmas Eve. And on Christmas Day, the radio station broadcast only Christmas music. But with requests streaming in, the U.S. effort ramped up after the holiday."

"On Dec. 27, "someone who identified himself as a member of the PSYOPS [Psychological Operations] team from Fort Bragg [N.C.] called to tell us what they were doing with their loud speakers," the military report said. U.S. Gen. Maxwell "Mad Max" Thurman had ordered speakers placed as a "musical barrier" around the perimeter of the Vatican Embassy and turned to full volume."

"Noriega was reportedly partial to opera. What he got was "Panama," from Van Halen, "Danger Zone," from Kenny Loggins, and "Refugee," courtesy of Tom Petty. And remember, this was the '80s. So the strongman also got an earful of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up," though that may have been intended more for Noriega's hosts at the embassy. As the standoff dragged on for days, the playlist became part of the story."

"Not everyone was happy with the military's approach, including the White House, and the music was stopped after several days. President George H.W. Bush's national security adviser, Brent Scowcroft, said afterward that he thought the use of high-volume music was "undignified."

"On Jan. 3, 1990, Noriega surrendered to the U.S. forces, though not until after he'd been treated to a version of "I Fought The Law."

I advise you NOT to click on the link and actually play the video.

Plus, anything by the Shaggs, such as "My Pal Foot Foot":

ON EDIT:

I'd like to add "Screw My Head" by one of my bands, Marshall Oboy & The Well Hungarians.

Lead singer Marshall was a gay porn star.

He was also known as "David Bowie's Singing Soundman" when he toured with Bowie and stood in at soundchecks as Bowie in place of The David.

Anyway, I was the drummer on this ditty, and I could hear this on a loop for only so long before I would crack, or smoke crack, or something:

made popular by Carrie Underwood and maybe "Why Me" by Kristofferson.

In the case of these truckers in Canada, one could say Justin has taken the wheel.....

I'm still a fan of Bobby Bare who like Kristofferson and Tom T. Hall, is quite a teller of real life stories......

Randomly change the speed at which the songs play while being played. Randomly skip ahead or behind by one second.

Not only do the songs suck but mess up their rhythm so they can't recede into the background!

110. That's because the novelty usually wore off by the second listen.

And it usually wasn't enough of a novelty to make the first listen less painful, given how bad most of those songs were.

"Werewolves of London" was a novelty song, but you won't see it recommended as music to drive people away. It was much much better than any other novelty song I can think of...though Warren Zevon never expected it to be a hit and got really tired of it:

You say any disco, I counter with any and all rap. Or as a friend calls it: war drums music.

And the Alphabet song. Sing songy version maybe by the cars for kids singers on repeat over and over.

I could play this game forever. Thanks!

Edit: ps, most worse disco ever is Cher’s Believe But ABBA gets a break cause I like them.

Edit 2: country In the Pines and Mule Skinner Blues. Even Dolly Parton couldn’t rescue them.

It's a fine song, but hearing it on a loop, hour after hour, would drive even the show's biggest fans insane.

525, 600 minutes,

525, 600 minutes -
How do you measure, measure a year?

That number would bore into their skulls until they scattered.
