General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe truckers convoy is coming to America, they just left Kingman AZ
headed to the E coast, looks like following I-40 and 44. They plan to spend the weekend in my state of OK. They will be in Elk City on the W border with NM on Saturday and Vinita on the E border with MO/AR on Sunday.
It will be interesting to see if Stitthead chooses to enforce his law which went into effect 4-21 " A new law in Oklahoma increases penalties for demonstrators who block public roadways and grants immunity to motorists who unintentionally kill or injure protesters while attempting to flee."
Under the new law, obstructing the use of a public street or highway during a protest is considered a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in county jail and/or a fine ranging from $100 to $5,000. Another provision grants civil and criminal liability protection to motorists who unintentionally cause injury or death while "fleeing from a riot."
If you would like more info on what they are up to, or to see the route/schedule, this looks like the official website.

(4,457 posts)between how many trucks running 24x7? Plus, food, lost wages, and at some point, bail?

(4,514 posts)Supporters brought them food, took away their waste and gave them money. I would guess Americans will do at least as well.

(4,457 posts)and plan on arresting people assisting the obstruction of commerce. Though, that said, the Ottawa protest took place in a city, whereas they are talking about jamming the beltway. Going to be a lot harder to haul supplies out to trucks on the highway, not to mention dangerous.

(4,514 posts)I have a friend in Ottawa, it was happening there. It wouldn't surprise me to also see Tulsa megachurches taking busloads of supplies to OK locations and DC. One still proudly boasts they took 3 to the insurrection.

Here in "tropical" NH, plug-in engine heaters and anti-jell additives for fuel keep most big rigs shut down when not working.
Let 'er run all night? Costs about a gallon of fuel an hour!

(58,785 posts)to close down the beltway and all roads in and out of DC. Another denounces that, says they won't block roads or bridges, and wants "accountability" from the government. Presumably they're the ones who say they won't go into DC.
Theres moms and Subarus and the family dog and the kids coming. Wonder if any detoured to Havasu City to get selfies with the London Bridge?
I read that the DC police have already shut down some roads.

(4,514 posts)before the state of the union speech. The same place I heard that, they were discussing how to identify the weakest links in ground security and how to get a truck onto a runway. These are the same group of people who were giving instructions before and on 1-6 on capitol security and how to defeat it. IMO, they have already broken the law, several times.

Dulles is about 15 miles from the beltway and 32 miles from the Capitol.
Impact on the SoTU address? Zero.

(54,302 posts)Back then, it was "Let Freedom Ring." You dialed it and listened to a tape of some humorless extremist going on about the Beatles singing "Back In The USSR." The idiots never even bothered to look at the lyrics, or, if they did, they were too stupid to understand that it was meant as a cut AGAINST the USSR, not a plug for it. They were going on about the Beatles being communists or communist sympathizers. They obviously didn't read the words to "Revolution," either.
If it weren't for the downside of making some of these idiots martyrs, I'd be for the national guard to be stationed 100 yards behind some state border line with anti-tank weapons, ready, aimed, and with orders to let loose the moment these traitors crossed the state line. If their pals whine, remind them of the oath people take to protect the constitution against ALL enemies, both foreign AND DOMESTIC, under which category these clowns certainly fall.

(15,325 posts)20 times the misery they intend to cause in DC & along the route to get there.
I hope their treck across Wyoming is met with 50mph winds across the open prairie. A blizzard that shuts the Interstate west to east for days.
I hope those aholes are delayed in every state they make it to.
I hope President Biden's speech will be given full attention & respect it deserves, & not overshadowed by the antics of this ignorant juvenile mentality.
Which, by the way is WHY they're doing it in the 1st place.
Their stated intent is to reach DC by the time the President speaks to the nation.
Our Nation.
I hope they are met with harsh travel conditions, traffic delays & that they never reach DC until the State of the Union Speech is well over & all who want to attend are all safely back home.
Then they can turn their convoy of assholes around and all drive their big stupid trucks with their big Trump flags flying, back across the country where they came from.
That's how I want it to all go down.

Hope they don't get caught in a blizzard before they get to SLC.
Not.
Just feeling sorry for people who have actual business on the road the same time they blow through.
