ranging from your local PD, to in this case the Secret Service, are involved in an accident, they tend to settle and settle quick... also SS vehicles are up armored, which means the damage to civilian vehicles will be well above and beyond whatever would happen if it was just an accident with another vehicle.

It is kind of a way to avoid the embarrassment of lawsuits. Of course settling means, you, as MR. Joe citizen, give up your right to sue.

the Majority Leader (line of presidential succession and all that jazz) or the rest of it?

You can research it. Not widely published, but you can find it. Serious.

It is not that difficult to find actually.

Now the ones that you know and hear about is where people actually sue police departments... but there are far more accidents in a year than those well known lawsuits.

Could be VIP medicine (the worst kind) or just a precaution... up armored vehicles are lousy at absorbing damage.

Accidents do happen you know. If you have ever had the misfortune of seeing fast moving motorcades for VIPs, it will make sense why there are accidents from time to time.
