A public records request denial doesn't usually shed this much light.

The two prosecutors, Carey Dunne and Mark Pomerantz, resigned after an unnecessary, month-long pause in the teams interactions with a special grand jury, The New York Times reported last week. The duo had grown frustrated that the newly elected DAAlvin Bragg Jr.wouldnt read memos about the case for weeks at a time and seemed to ditch plans to eventually indict former President Donald Trump himself, according to The Washington Post.
It turns out that, not only did Dunne and Pomerantz write resignation letters, they wrote so extensively about the slow-moving probe that the DAs office would not turn over copies of their letters.
In response to a public records request under New Yorks Freedom of Information Law, the DAs office told The Daily Beast that the letters would reveal too much information.

(34,436 posts)And obviously you did everything possible to get a serious problem resolved WITHOUT embarrassing anyone, and it is made public by FOIA request, embarrassment is entirely deserved and the result of EMPLOYER (management) behavior.

(35,454 posts)Gov. Kathy Hochul's gubernatorial opponents have called on her to remove Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg from office over his controversial policies not to prosecute some crimes
Gov. Kathy Hochul will meet shortly with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, as she told the New York Post she had "options" and knew "full well" her power to remove the controversial new DA from office.

Rep. Lee Zeldin, the frontrunner for the GOP nomination for governor, has already said he'd use the governor's power to remove district attorneys in order to get rid of Bragg. But with his new ad Suozzi becomes the most prominent Democrat yet to threaten the same.

Personally, Im tired of being mired down with that Orange POS. It is keeping us from more important things in society. Plus, I learned my lesson with Fitzmas, waking up 4 or 5 times to check to see if bush had been arrested.

(54,770 posts)Its time for the Select Committee to release a preliminary report. If they dont offer up some hard evidence, we need to gracefully wind this down before mid-terms are on us.

(54,770 posts)Sorry, if that is the case, the guys should have kept investigating until they had a slamdunk case that the new DA wouldn't see as a big risk to his future if he failed.
The other thing I understand, but could also be wrong, is that they can't find anyone who can, or will, testify that he saw trump draw out the scheme with a sharpie or something like that where one could convince a jury.

(35,454 posts)"wouldnt read memos about the case for weeks at a time and seemed to ditch plans to eventually indict former President Donald Trump himself, according to The Washington Post"
We'll find out if the resignation letters are released which so far his office is refusing to do. He started out on a bad foot when he released his new rules and there was an immediate uproar.

(54,770 posts)"That investigation suffered a critical blow yesterday when its two leading prosecutors abruptly resigned, following a monthlong pause in which they stopped presenting evidence to a grand jury, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
"According to those people, the prosecutors, Carey R. Dunne and Mark F. Pomerantz, submitted their resignation because Mr. Bragg told them he had serious doubts about proceeding with the high-stakes criminal investigation into the former presidents business practices.

(35,454 posts)please excuse me if you are a NYer and already know this
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg sent out a letter to prosecutors Friday clarifying what he called some of the "confusion" from an initial memo regarding prosecutorial guidelines that caused controversy.
Bragg took office on Jan. 1 and came under fire almost immediately for a set of guidelines he issued to prosecutors, ordering them not to charge certain crimes at all and to downgrade others to lesser charges.
However, in the letter Bragg sent out Friday, his office clarified that it will prosecute robberies with weapons as felonies, that gun possession cases will be default prosecution as felonies, and any attempt at violence against police will be prosecuted.

Nine days ago, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg released his day one memo directing his staff not to prosecute armed robberies and since then, hes gotten relentless criticism. Bragg could fix this by saying: I was wrong. Instead, hes saying: You were wrong.
Bragg laid out five sections of law that cover armed robberies and tells his staff not to prosecute them.

Hoyt
(54,770 posts)get it right, maybe because he had to spend too much time on the Orange buffoons investigation.
Me.
(35,454 posts)It was more involved than that. They wouldn't be charged with armed robbery if no one got hurt. The new head of the NYPD went ballistic with the new rules. I'm willing to bet that if he declines tfg's case he will be gone sooner than later. Governor Hocul is 'going to meet with him". But I'll get back to you after this has played out.
Hoyt
(54,770 posts)overrule him. Kind of makes it tough to say politics has nothing to do with the investigation.
Far as Im concerned, trump was convicted by the ultimate jurors voters. But, if someone gets him locked up, Ill dance in the street with everyone else and eat crow dung.
Me.
(35,454 posts)and the recent law removing the anonymity behind LLCs will prove to be another blow to him. As for Bragg, I didn't vote for him as I thought Daniel Goldman was a better choice, so we'll see.
Hoyt
(54,770 posts)itll all end up another Fitzmas.
But, trump is forever a loser and he and his family will suffer, if only financially. If some hard evidence arises that convicts the MFer, all the better.
I get the new DA might have dragged his feet so as not to be another unnecessary victim of trump.
