What about armed drones to Ukraine ?

Everyone talking about Fighter planes being some kind of provocative violation of some escalation rule. So, maybe drones get the job done without risking pilots lives? Honestly, they could be operated from outside of Ukraine, who would know?

Turkey has and is supplying their drones to Ukr. They have been very effective in use. . . . nt Bernardo de La Paz Mar 2022 #1

So what? We're not pretending we aren't arming the Ukes?
A Fighter plane might be different if based outside Ukr. but a drone is the equivalent of a stinger missile in my mind.

"Big and slow Turkish-made drones have been thwarting Russian advances in Ukraine war

By Timothy Evans
Published March 11, 2022

The fog of war often is pretty thick, if not impenetrable. That could be why military experts around the world are having a hard time figuring out how Ukraine's air defenses, thus far, largely have bested Russia's air assaults. Ukraine’s most sophisticated attack drone, which has achieved remarkable success against Vladimir Putin's high-tech air force, is a slow, low-flying and completely defenseless drone

As the New York Times reports, many "experts" predicted that the few drones that the Ukrainian forces managed to get off the ground would be shot down in hours by the Russians and be a non-factor in the war. That hasn't been the case. Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 model drones, which buzz along at about half the speed of a Cessna at about 50 or 60 knots, not only still are flying, they're also shooting guided missiles at Russian missile launchers, tanks and supply trains and wreaking havoc on them.

The NYTimes writes: "Drones have become a sort of lumbering canary in the war’s coal mine, a sign of the astonishing resiliency of the Ukrainian defense forces and the larger problems that the Russians have encountered."

I think there are countermeasures (I can think of a few) but I have no idea what are deployed tactically.

have systems to hone in on Migs too? I'm no warfighter , just know Ukes want both Migs and drones-anything to fight with I suppose

Drone control transmitters don't necessarily talk in chirps, but might, I suppose. Thing is the drone is feeding info back to the controller in a continuous real time stream.

Drone control might be anywhere, but the transmitter to the drone has a fixed location, generally, and the drone can't get too far from the transmitter. Even if it moved on a truck or van, it wouldn't move fast and would be a target.

I suppose depending on arrangements, a transmitter base might fight back, i.e. be at a known anti-aircraft battery, or a defended airbase, etc.

But there are lots of other considerations I'm sure that I haven't thought of.
