I get sick seeing the flagrant disregard for human life from the pictures and videos coming out of Ukraine, as I did in Iraq, as I did in Syria, as I did in Chechnya as I did in Rwanda, in Lybia in South Africa, in Sudan, in Nigeria, in Afghanistan, it goes on and on.

First of all, if these meetings happen it will be the first meeting of NATO heads of state face to face. Face to face meetings between people are so fucking important. There's been zoom meetings and diplomats from all parties flying around from country to country negotiating all kinds of shit, but face to face with leaders of NATO countries during this is a big deal. A no fly zone over Ukraine is an insanely dangerous risk. I personally am not ready for 2 or 3 billion people to become shadows on the sidewalk yet. Of course it is out of our control. If the leaders of the NATO countries decide that a no fly zone is a good bet to stop this, well what you gonna do. But thats their job. I want it as bad as you but not unless every other potential outcome has been tried. Didnt live my whole life to have me, my kids, your kids end up toasted like a radioactive marshmallow.

There’s some question whether they should have ever been handed it after the USSR broke up. My understanding is they just assumed that position (heh) but we’re never formally installed so some experts have surmised there’s a way to eject them without a full UN vote (which would fail)
