LINK INCLUDES TABLE OF CRIMES
Despite Donald Trumps staggering record of likely criminal misconduct as president and candidate for that office, he has not been charged with a single criminal offense. While adherence to the rule of law requires that prosecutors pursue criminal indictments only where the facts, law, and principles of prosecution support such action, it is also critical that no individual be insulated from accountability simply because they are a national political figure, a former president or a candidate for public office. Choosing not to pursue accountability for fear of the political criticism or consequences is itself a deeply political act.
If President Trump avoids criminal prosecution for these potential offenses because prosecutors are unwilling to pursue legally justified cases against him, the message to him and future presidents will be clear: you can commit crimes with impunity.

(8,387 posts)Ah, actually, I noticed they have a color-coded "likely statute of limitations" column in the chart.
Anyway, you are:
(a) being insufficiently patient,
(b) unaware of all the careful work being done by prosecutors in putting the cases together,
(c) criticizing the DoJ instead of the actual criminals, or
(d) all of the above.
As punishment, there will be five more threads posted to GD not specifically referencing this post or that website and complaining about Debbie Downers who think they know what the DoJ or NY prosecutors are up to.
How dare you, etc.

(22,112 posts)lament when not enough charges are filed, etc., and dress up the charges in order to look good when they run for their next elected office. When do they ever charge for a crime when their own safety, their own future is at risk? Something is wrong here and the clock keeps ticking, and nothing is happening. Do we really have that many cowards in the Justice Department?
I have an ugly feeling that we do, that we do have a lot of cowards in our so-called Justice Department, that Bill Barr obviously gutted out, got rid of those that actually stood up for the law, charged those that actually broke the law, etc.

(5,164 posts)As others have said. The worst is the murder of over 1 million here which he will walk free in for sure. Add to that the war crimes in Ukraine which he helped facilitate.

(2,336 posts)That is all. Just no pension, no perks for life, not for you. No secret service either. All benefits gone. Since apparently these rules and laws (or whatever they call them) are never actually enforced. There must be consequences.
You can't raise a child without teaching them about consequences but apparently our elected officials somehow get to escape them.
