Is anyone watching the Oscars show tonight?

I have it on, but I'll admit I'm not paying much attention. One thing I've noticed is they are WAY overdoing the racial diversity thing this year. I think they're still embarrassed over the "Oscars too white" show a few years ago.

Plus 20 million for one movie. Talk about economic inequity.

But I used to rent DVDs from Blockbuster and Redbox. This is not much different for me, just easier. I always wait until they are $5.99 or less, but then I happily rent them. For us, since we don't do much else these days, it's cheap entertainment.

It’s not “diversity” per se. I absolutely LOVE the richness of so many ways of being and looking and being honored.

It shouldn't be such a big deal to honor the "year's best," regardless of their race or gender.

my wife and I have decided they don't aim movies at our demographic any longer. We rewatched Gandhi last night/tonight. Superb.

I didn't home from work until 5. Had some down time, then had to clean 4 kitty boxes, haul out 30lbs of wet depends... Now trying to come up with dinner, after being sick of cooking today. I kinda care about Dune, because I loved the book, so will check back to see how it did. The origina movie was pretty good. NPR had an interesting interview with sound effects guys this week. My honest opinion, I don't feel it was a movie that needed to be remade, but haven't seen the latest remake. I'm not usually real keen on remakes.

It is more in tune with the book, and LOOKS more how I envisioned it when I read it. You should give it a watch. I should mention that they are doing it in two films, so there is time to provide much more detail.

Will Smith looked furious! I didn't get the joke or why Smith was so angry. I think he punched Chris Rock, and there were so bleeped out words.

Jada Smith suffers from Alopecia, hence her lack of hair. Extermely uncool of Rock to joke about her lack of hair. While it's likely Rock didn't know why she is bald, it's still in poor taste, he's lucky will Smith didn't kick his ass a lot more.
