How long are we going to continue letting Christian Fascists

Nothing the evangelicals do has anything to do with Christ Jesus's teaching.

They’re loud but they’re not in the majority.

Let's not pretend it's only Evangelical Christians who support Trump. He got 58% of the Protestants, 52% of the Catholics, and 61% of the Mormons (if you consider them to be Christian). He could not have taken office without their votes, and they should not be deprived of their fair share of the credit for his disastrous presidency.

I don't know what the numbers were for 2020, but I doubt it was much different.

2016 was the fuck up of all fuck ups.

The Supreme Court was handed over to the Christo Fascists.

Warnings be damned.

It is finished.

The theocratic fascists are well positioned for the upcoming elections.

We will take it until we can take no more.

That's the step that can truly empower them. They want a special class of citizenship based on their religious beliefs that will allow them to openly discriminate against other citizens. A license to hurt others. They won't stop with one or a few exemptions, they want enough so that they are actually putting those with whom they disagree into a virtual class by exclusion.

They say that everyone is born a wicked sinner and when fully enabled by court decisions they plan to show us the harm that wicked sinners can inflict on others.

And it really ought to be up to their "leaders" to figure this out, but their leaders are hungry for secular power (so who will tell THEM?)

It's a standard practice among some Evangelicals, those that are more prone to follow right wing politics than Biblical doctrine, to twist things out of their original context, misquote, exaggerate or ignore the original thought completely to make a point when someone points out that they're not being consistent with their own Biblical doctrine. And congregational authority makes it hard for pastors who know the truth to actually preach it, or point out errors in interpretation because members of the congregation can simply fire him.

So, it's a closed system, even information sources (you know what those are) and has effects similar to cult and addictive behavior (You will recognize them from books by Anne Wilson Schaef ... I recognized all my previous psychotic bosses, reading her books.)

Well, that's not the Good Shepherd I learned about as a kid.
Seems he turned into a bloodthirsty, vengeful and sadistic killer.
Of course, believing such horseshit gives politicians a basis to behave in wacko ways they do, given no check other than being OUT OF POWER.

So, let me quote Ibram X. Kendi (again) from his epilogue to "Stamped from the Beginning". This is obviously framed around racism but racism is the engine that runs the repubs.

Protesting against racist power and succeeding can never be mistaken for seizing power. Any effective solution to eradicating American racism must involve Americans committed to antiracist policies seizing and maintaining power over institutions, neighborhoods, counties, states, nations—the world. It makes no sense to sit back and put the future in the hands of people committed to racist policies, or people who regularly sail with the wind of self-interest, toward racism today, toward antiracism tomorrow. An antiracist America can only be guaranteed if principled antiracists are in power, and then antiracist policies become the law of the land, and then antiracist ideas become the common sense of the people, and then the antiracist common sense of the people holds those antiracist leaders and policies accountable.

And that day is sure to come. No power lasts forever. There will come a time when Americans will realize that the only thing wrong with Black people is that they think something is wrong with Black people. There will come a time when racist ideas will no longer obstruct us from seeing the complete and utter abnormality of racial disparities. There will come a time when we will love humanity, when we will gain the courage to fight for an equitable society for our beloved humanity, knowing , intelligently, that when we fight for humanity, we are fighting for ourselves. There will come a time. Maybe, just maybe, that time is now.

Just deny them power.
Pass laws that safeguard rights, unbreakable by a partisan court.
They are a last gasp of a demographic that is disappearing. That's why the insanity.
