I am going through a depression and have been hiding from news for a few weeks. I finally decided to go back to watch news and where the fuck is Rachel and Lawrence??? I realize what is going on in the Ukraine and a few other major things but for most of it I am clueless. I went to watch Rachel and Lawrence the day before yesterday and tried last night but they were not there. I am working on catching up here but I have not seen anything talking about Rachel and Lawrence. It looks and feels like everything has gotten worse in the past few weeks I have been gone.

Be well.

(15,848 posts)My understanding is it seems to be a segue into a different job description. She will ultimately be getting out of her nightly program (sigh) and doing podcasts and special events (election night coverage etc.). The grueling job of creating a 5-night-per-week show has been exhausting.
She's currently working on the film version of "Bagman". She said she will be back in April some time for a while. Then? Who knows.
I agree with you that I miss her terribly, although Ali Velshi has been doing a very good job in her spot.
On Edit: I'm sorry you have been struggling. I've been going through a rough patch too.

(58,795 posts)She's working on producing independent projects and won't be on regularly.
Unfortunately she and Keith Olbermann couldn't reach an agreement for him to take over her regular slot.

(38,733 posts)Mostly because of burnout. I still keep up with the news but I am not interested in watching a 3-4 hour block of talking heads these days. I'm tired.
I did watch some last night. Lawrence was there and Ali Velshi has been doing incredible work during the Rachel hour.
Dr. Maddow is on leave to work on a film of her Bag Man podcast. She will return to MSNBC soon but intends to phase out of her anchor job in order to create other projects.

(36,578 posts)No longer have it on all-day-long, and mostly play background music on during the day. Sometimes I'll have a movie on, and I've found that it does wonders for my psyche and disposition.
Lawrence is still on most nights, and Rachel is adjusting her schedule as others have replied. If you are still checking in with DU, the Video & Multimedia section will usually run clips from important news shows. Keep an eye on those because they'll help you keep tabs on most of the important stuff.
