Where is Secy. Yellen? The IRS is a dumpster fire

Refunds delayed and delayed. I never got my unemployment refund from the American Rescue Act from 2020. I've called numerous times to be told it'll happen sooner or later. I filed my taxes 2 weeks ago and nothing so far. I've read that they are backlogged. I think Trump's guy is still in charge at the IRS. Why hasn't he been fired?

Mnuchin was on TV everyday. Where is Yellen??? Is there anyone working at the Treasury Department? We got record inflation and no one is on TV from the administration trying to assuage the public. This is her job.

And while we're at, why is there no news on Harriet Tubman being on the $20 bill? Why has nothing happened on this since Biden took over? No announcements or anything. She doesn't even have her signature on the money cause they haven't got around to it, which is unheard of after a year in office for a Treasury secretary.

I LOVE Biden, but he's not being served by various members of his cabinet. It's a sad day when the Transportation secretary is on TV more than the Treasury secretary. He needs to clone Buttigieg and put in him all over. Biden needs people hungry and engaged, not people just riding out the last few years of their career for a paycheck until retirement.

1. Do you honestly believe the IRS operated better under Trump?

Seriously?

2. That's my point! Nothing has changed!

Trump's guy is still the head of the IRS for some strange reason and it's only gotten worse since Biden has took over. If nothing else, put your own people in charge.

3. You do realize they're appointed to five-year terms, yes?

Mnuchin might have been on tv everyday but every day he was fucking over the American citizens. To blame Yellen for not cleaning up the mess fast enough is ridiculous.

I really donít think some people understand what a hurricane of an administration we just survived.

Seriously.

I waited until march / april to file and ended up in the back log for months.

11. I filed mine after the middle of March this year.

Got my refund within a week.

Usually I file end of January, so I expected a delay. Maybe I got lucky?

5. Congress approves the IRS budget

Biden cannot single handedly hire an extra 250,000 processors. Congress has slashed the IRS budget for years...with the results being less auditing of the rich and long delays for those who file late.

If you are really upset by this go after your representative and senator to properly fund the IRS.

FWIW, I filed on President day in February. Money was direct deposited in about 12 days.

We understand your anger, but it is totally misdirected.

6. You expect a refund from 2 weeks ago?

It was announced in February that refunds will probably be delayed if people donít file early. You didnít file early so 🤷🏽‍♀️

7. I filed just a few days ago. Will the IRS be slow ...

... to cash the check I sent?

I'm guessing they'll get right on that!

12. IRS and lightning speed

They've already cashed the 2021 tax check AND the 2022 estimated tax check. Who sez IRS is slow?

I think they have thousands of agents ready to cash checks, and three agents to process refunds.

13. Nope. They deposit checks almost instantly.

Actually, they do it electronically, so it's even faster. Someone types in your Social Security number and the amount and probably scans the check and it's done.

Refunds are different. Before issuing the refund, they check your filing for errors, so someone has to actually look at your 1040. That's why that process is slower.

If you e-file, that should speed up the processing, since the return can be checked by software. If you mail it, that's something else. Someone has to open your envelope, check to see if you signed, and then the return is reviews for errors and completeness. Any review of your filing comes later. Then, someone enters your information and a refund is ordered. Printing and mailing of the checks is automated, but there is definitely some human interaction in the processing.

10. The IRS has ALWAYS been a disgrace. because thats how the law set it up.

The entire tax system is a total joke & always will be because the politicians will never address it. Just like the National Debt.
