They should not delay the trial and the judge should tell Edwards this:

He is quite a piece of work.
One of the most shameless, deceitful, nasty men to have ever been involved in politics......and that is saying something.
It should send shivers down the spine of EVERY American that this abhorrent man could have been a heartbeat away from the presidency, or worse President himself.
Of course the shameless, clueless libs wouldnt think twice about that.

(30,885 posts)If he's found guilty, I hope he receives the same justice that anyone found guilty of the same crime would receive. That's a separate issue. Wishing him harm seems completely out of place coming from a Website that bills itself as "America's exclusive site for God, Family, Country, Life & Liberty conservatives!" (the blurb on their Home Page).

(102,119 posts)Just sayin... I still think of the children, as Elisabeth clearly would have. I also try to remember a John Edwards who at least seemed to be a true populist.
I can not wish him ill, though he needs to face his charges--at some point.

(30,885 posts)...it's two separate things for me.
I'm not a fan of the man's behavior at all. And given the number of people on DU, past and present, who worked to further his cause (and donated money as well), I feel a sense of betrayal.
But for me, it doesn't give me a free pass to wish him harm. Rather, I'd prefer to see him as the picture of perfect health on the day of his trial.

(11,936 posts)A certain amount of people are just cruel and celebrate their cruelty.
I'm not saying people need to have sympathy. John Edwards did some pretty bad stuff. But I think it would be best to say nothing at all. Thats pretty much what I'll do whenever Cheney's condition catches up with him in finality.
