which impacts gay marriage, inter-racial marriage, sex change operations, and access to contraception. It will take a constitutional amendment to specifically put privacy rights into the constitution. Remember what we did in the 1960s to shut down the Vietnam war? That type of opposition and greater is what is required now.

(1,962 posts)Abortion. Same-sex marriage. Interracial marriage. Transgender health care, up to and including surgery. Birth control... How much more? The right to vote as long as you vote for the right person? The right to travel somewhere they don't want you to go? What you read?
This is what I've spoken of more than once here... The biggest issue we have here in 2022 is human rights. Yes, I know, many people on both sides doubt LGBTQ's are even human. Well, we are. As are women. As are people of color. But if the QOP succeeds in their "culture war" (which is not a culture war - it's open warfare on human rights and the Constitution), the only people that will be deemed "human" are white, straight, cisgendered males. That's it. Everyone else will be subhuman, targets, whatever...
This is also not just an attack upon women's rights and abortion rights, but makes it clear that we have a court that will not only deny rights, they will revoke them. Which is why this - if it actually happens - will be the worst ruling in SCOTUS history. Yes, worse than Bush v Gore. Yes, worse than Dred Scott.
Why? Because we might be on our way to all becoming Dred Scott.
