but it is a dream. We have to stop believing these people. They lie. Constantly. They aren’t concerned. They ise that as cover to vote the way they were always going to vote.

Stop falling for it.

I was too pointed and shouldn’t have used the word You in that manner. I have just heard FAR too many times where we put our hopes on these people and they are never the people they make themselves out to be.

How many times have I heard the hope that Collins or Murkowski might save us?

I read somewhere that she was surprised that Kavanaugh lied about how he would vote if Roe came up before him.

I also read Jack In The Beanstalk, and it had more credibility.

Murkowski would, even though she's up for reelection, because Alaska has protection for women to have abortions, and it isn't as much of a culture wars thing as it could be.

Collins is such a craven person I doubt she would, but I actually think she doesn't think Roe should be overturned.

So... maybe.

they look like fools, and they are...Murkowski could have given Kavanaugh a thumbs-down, instead she voted a cowardly "present".... however, Kavanaugh's beer soaked pinky promise was good enough to buy a Collins vote...kind like Trump learning his lesson... that's right, Susie, a depraved sexual predator, a lying narcissistic amoral sociopath learned his lesson, alright... and what "lesson" would that be?...cue Brad Raffensperger..."I want to find 11,780 votes"...

Murkowski is up for re-election and well maybe lose her seat as it sits. While Alaska isn't by majority anti-abortion it is by majority conservatives. They won't like the repeal of the filibuster and it would be weaponized against her. Successfully I expect.

Collins is going to do what she always does. Wring her hands, bemoan being duped and draw a line at repealing the filibuster. Oh, and point fingers at Justice I-Like-Beer for deceiving her. That's her out right there politically. I'm doubtful he even ever said that to her and it's not just something ginned up by McConnell which the other two went along with after the fact. Side note: she's not up for re-election until 2026. I'm skeptical she's even going to run again then. She's looking at her down the road strategy now and I'm betting that involves RW gigs she's been assured.

Then there's Sinema, Arizona isn't anti-abortion by majority, but there's a good chance she could wiggle out of supporting a repeal if the filibuster there handily. Toss out some blather about how this needs to be dealt with elsewhere and/or by other means and I think she'd be fine.

All while Manchin is heralded as a hero for his stance in his state.

Manchin's no makes favoring changing filibuster rules for abortion 49-51. If Collins votes to change it, that brings it to 50-50, and the VP will be the tie-breaker. However, Sinema might not make this exception, and Casey (D-PA) has gone on record saying he opposes a federal abortion law.
