(9,952 posts)They would tell me it was murder but stipulation except if raped or incest. I would tell them, you gonna exclude those two while thinking murder, then you could not exclude those two. Murder is murder regardless. Otherwise it is merely the punishment of a girl/woman enjoy sex.
Then they changed the argument including rape and incest, just lay back and enjoy and while we are at it the rapist gets parental rights.

(9,895 posts)This is, was and ever shall be about EXPANDING government to enforce THEIR RELIGIOUS views on others and CONTROLLING and SUPPRESSING WOMEN'S RIGHTS.
The list of who's next includes:
Marriage Equality
Contraception
Continued gutting of Voting Rights
Even MORE gerrymandering
EVEN MORE SCOTUS nonsense from an illegitimate, radical theocratic court.
The republic is dead - and by the way, FUCK THOSE PEOPLE...I do not view them as fellow citizens seeking a compromise position (we HAVE that with Roe)...I see malignant intent and theocracy, period.
Its time to start the separation discussions and move on to a new reality where the Conservative / Confederate States of America become Haiti mixed with North Korea and the United States of America becomes the Dominican Republic by comparison.

Republicans are in favor of killing living babies and have done so.
The supposed pro-lifers cared naught when the state of Texas (republican gov, republican Prez) deliberately killed living baby Sun Hudson against the mother's wishes because he was an inconvenience to the state.
It is not a matter of life to the supposed pro-lifers.
It is a matter of control.

(82,849 posts)Oooh, there was nothing worser than requiring something without a pay-for (tax cuts for wealthy people being exempt, naturally). Looks like they've gotten over that, as long as it's some person far away from them who has to shoulder the financial cost of carrying a pregnancy to term, giving birth, and if both survive, then paying for the upbringing, feeding, clothing, housing and so forth. Oh, and the child care credit? Too generous, that's going bye-bye, too.

(16,357 posts)Believe it ir not, I have known some "pro life" (God, how I HATE that label) individuals, in the past and in the present who sincerely believe(d) that abortion = murder. I'm talking about people I know or have known very, very well, and I have no doubts about their sincerity. I don't know what to say to those people, except that they do not have the right to use their beliefs to control other people's lives.
Unfortunately, there are plenty of unscrupulous politicians who don't give a rat's ass about abortion one way or the other but are more than happy to publicly take an anti-abortion stance in order to get votes from people like the above. Those politicians make me sick, and I have less than zero use for them.
I also have no use for the anti-abortion activists who stand outside clinics and heckle everyone going in (they don't call it heckling, but that IS what it is) and even less for the ones who do nasty things like doxxing abortion clinic workers or *shudder* advocating violent acts against them. All of those kinds of activity smack of a holier-than-thou attitude that offends me deeply. And people who claim to oppose abortion in principle but obviously don't give a single crap about actual born human being? Do not even get me started!

(21,786 posts)the Republican Party is now a white Christian nationalist party; banning abortion and contraception are as much about reversing the decline in the white birthrate (which has been below replacement for decades) as anything.

some years back. The very act of preventing pregnancy was, in their fanatical minds, the same as having an abortion.
Thats when I knew that access to contraceptives was on the list as well.

(1,153 posts)Back when W Bush was president, I always saw this group of people standing on the sidewalk by an abortion clinic. I saw them all the time so finally, I stopped and walked up to them and asked them this one question. I said. If you succeed in stopping the next woman that comes in here to have an abortion, which one of you will adopt that child and raise that child until they are out of school and maybe college? I got nothing. Not a word.I said that you people just unwanted a child for the second time in its young life. I said thank you and walked away. They want nothing to do with the child after they are born. But yet bitch when the state has to pay to support the unwanted child.
