(130,865 posts)'Prime' is the other nights, w/o Rachel.
Midwestern Democrat
(806 posts)four nights a week by calling it the generic "MSNBC Prime" and using rotating guest hosts. They're basically doing the opposite of what NBC did with Johnny Carson and "The Tonight Show" - a guest host on Monday night, with Carson hosting the other four nights. MSNBC needs to have a permanent host with their own unique show/production staff for Tuesday through Friday at 9 pm, and simply have Monday night be the weekly Rachel Maddow Show.

(9,067 posts)and other news events. The show is MSNBC Prime now and is written/produced by Rachel's team.
Ali Velshi is the current host. (not tonight though).
I wonder if they will be rotating hosts for a while.

(36,023 posts)I'm pissed that MSNBC rearranged its lineup around Rachel's new contract.
I'm pissed at Rachel, and sometimes just shut her off during the commercial filled second half hour. When she shows up, she's good, but at times Nicole Wallace, Joy Reid are more insightful in analysis and information; she's put in a hard six years, but I'm still pissed at what I feel is her lack of commitment to network news.
But I always watch Lawrence. He's the most powerful of the night lineup, imo.
I love Ali Velshi, and could watch his kind humor and sharp discussions with guests every night. He was great live in Ukraine and nearby countries.

(1,481 posts)And he shouldn't have to go through any rotating hosts routine. He has more than proven himself.
Agree with you about O'Donnell as well.

(7,016 posts)cut my cable to the bare minimum. I won't pay extra for MSNBC. Sounds like I haven't missed much.
I'm sorry you can't afford MSNBC, because, in fact, you have missed much. DU does present the best of it here, granted, but its nightly lineup will be important over the next two years.
