Buffalo Shooter Saw New York's Gun Laws As His Advantage

https://www.newsweek.com/buffalo-shooter-saw-new-yorks-gun-laws-his-advantage-1706982

The suspected Buffalo shooter reportedly saw New York's strict gun laws as an advantage in the recent attack that left 10 people dead.

According to the Buffalo News, law enforcement officials said that they believe an online manifesto was written by the suspected shooter, identified as 18-year-old Payton Gendron. In the manifesto, Gendron allegedly wrote about how he planned to "kill as many Blacks as possible" in the attack and decided to carry it out in New York due to its strict open carry gun laws, which would make it harder for someone to stop him, the Buffalo News reported.

The Giffords Law Center states that New York State residents are prohibited from openly carrying a loaded handgun outside of their homes without a carry license.

"The state also prohibits any person from possessing a 'loaded' short-barreled shotgun or rifle or an assault weapon outside of his or her home or place of business," the Giffords Law Center said. "New York does not issue licenses to carry handguns openly."

If everybody had a gun nobody would get shot defense, sounds like it was taken from the NRA playbook.

4. The article discusses the shooter's stated motivation for choosing a location in New York

for his murder spree based upon his manifesto. It then quotes a gun control advocacy group regarding New York gun laws.

Why wouldn’t I agree with the article? It summarizes an aspect of his motivation based upon his manifesto, and the quote from the advocacy group regarding New York law is accurate.

Do you disagree with either point?

he chose to kill people because the gun laws restricted people to carry. If only the victims would have been armed defense for a gun nut mass murderer!

Both murderers were white supremacists who targeted a specific minority group, but the also professed militant environmentalism as a prime motivating factor.

Good Guardian article on it: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/may/17/buffalo-shooting-suspect-eco-fascism

13. Someone with a gun tried to stop him

and it didn't work because the killer was wearing protective gear. The man who tried to stop him was killed. Who gives a shit that the shooter saw "New York's strict gun laws as an advantage"? Do you think that racist fuck wouldn't have done the shooting if the gun laws were different?

16. Of course he would have committed this crime if the laws were different. The article doesn't argue

otherwise. It simply reports on his motivation for choosing the location, something about which I saw a number of people wondering about after the story broke.

The hostility towards reporting upon this baffles me.
