Imagine Dealing With This Many Condescending Anti-Abortion White Men and Not Losing Your Shit

Imagine Dealing With This Many Condescending Anti-Abortion White Men and Not Losing Your Shit
A round of applause for Dr. Yashica Robinson.
Abigail Weinberg

Today’s House hearing on abortion rights was bound to have its share of ignorant and offensive questions, not to mention disinformation, from a certain cohort of white male Republicans. But at times the questions asked of the witnesses—particularly Dr. Yashica Robinson, an OB-GYN and abortion provider in Alabama—were just too absurd, if not simply hateful.

Dripping condescension, but seemingly unaware of what an abortion is, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) repeatedly asked Robinson if she would support the abortion of a child who was “halfway out of the birth canal.”

“I can’t even fathom that,” she replied, “just like you probably can’t imagine what you would do if your daughter was raped. If it hasn’t happened, it may be difficult for you to—.” Johnson cut her off before she could continue.

The immense disrespect that these men exhibited toward a testifying doctor, a Black woman, was palpable.

“Ms. Robinson, I want to ask you a question,” Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) said.

“Yes, my name is Dr. Robinson,” she responded, “and I provide abortion care in Alabama.”

Those greedy idiots have been stoking the flames of race to make sure we are not paying attention to the real war being waged. Yes, they are threatened by a smart woman of color, but it is that feeling that their overlords want them to run with, because that way we will be screaming about race wars while they clean out the country and move away one there is nothing left. Do not fall for their race baiting. Yes, there are plenty of idiots out there who believe that crap, but I assure you that the highest rankings of the GQP do not care about race, they are just using it to achieve their own ends. We need to make sure that they cannot use race against anyone, certainly not someone with the bonafides that Dr. Robinson has. That rethug circus was to make sure we are glued to the TV/computer and not watching them continue to rig our society so that they are the only ones who remain on top. (This is their delusion as white racists have not been 'on top' ever. But, they are trying to make sure that our structure says that they are. And, they are doing that to make sure they are the only ones with any economic and political power. After all, there is a lot of money being made over race and they are never going to stop anything that is making them money. But again, it is more about the control by a certain class as opposed to control over a certain class.

America is getting browner and they have convinced themselves that they're superior (you're right - they never were and never will be). In order to attain superiority (they mistakenly think it's maintaining it), they need to push down everyone who isn't white and male. It's an absolute act of desperation.

I wish I could look at it dispassionately from the outside but I can't, since I'm a woman.

is not a problem in this society, just class disparities? No unequal arrests rates because of race, no unequal justice and summary execution(s) because of race, just class war? I got that right. Eugene Debs said essentially the same. And white people did start getting better treatment in mines and factories. Yet who was left behind sucking up the coal dust... there are links about slavery by other names and means. frump unleashed his hateful minions on this society and never looked back at the societal discord he fomented. It was not class he appealed to IT WAS RACE. The so-called disaffected white person afraid of losing the superior numbers in Amerika is what these clowns in the Senate and House fear, as well as the reason for white fear out here in the streets...Gunderson wasn't shooting at a class of persons overall just their race specifically.

I said the basis for their actions is not racist, even though they are pushing that appearance. Or, you might explain how Will Smith managed to NOT get arrested for a violent assault which MILLIONS of people witnessed. It wasn't race that kept him out of jail, now was it? If I had done this, I would still be in jail. Why is he not locked up? Surely it cannot be the fact he is a famous multi-millionaire and I am a poor nobody? Naw, that can't be it!

It was race that he was appealing to, but it was the class that he wants to remain in power behind that appeal. They happen to be vastly white, but if everyone were multi-colored polka dots, the reasons behind their machinations would still be the same. Racial bias is an evil mindset, but the reasons for its continued practice is about maintaining social power, not supposed creationary superiority. (And profit. As I stated above, it is a major money maker for both sides of the issue. Why stop the gravy train over a little logic and science?) That is just their cover. Racism is alive and well in this country. That is a fact. But, it is being conscripted to cover for the classism that is actually going to destroy this nation. Which makes it even more evil, in my opinion. Gunderson was shooting at a specific race due to the programming of the ruling class. It was classism that created the media that programmed that idiot to think it was all about race. Even if that guy was screaming about whatever, the motivation was and is still greed. The 'haves' are going to ruin everything and then leave us in the rubble. It won't be about race when that happens.

slapped someone on national television or in front of one of the multitudes of cameras you...probably wouldn't have been arrested either because of your race...if Chris Rock had filed charges the story would have been very different. I have been through everything you purport is classism, which I agree is a reality but race, culture and unequal justice problems WILL provide our Ft. Sumpter II moment, NOT class in this country. Classism has nothing to do with a disproportionate number of African-Americans, in our history that has faced, faced and will face death only because of the colour of their skin. And that history is replete with socialists trying to cover massive racism with class differences/inequities as a distraction from the violence and hate of racism. If you want class warfare, ask the 60 million who voted for trump who they hate more, a so-called billionaire or the average African-Hispanic-Middle Easterner American. Ask the African-American caught with some small amount of cocaine and no record, why he got 20 years and the trial right after he featured the same scenario with a white perp...who got suspended sentence with rehab. Racism in this society is at the very core of problems as a systemic institutionalized matter. D.trump didn't appeal to class superiority he appealed to race superiority. And believe he showed me again, just how deep race is a distinction between superior and inferior humans as defined by 60 million trumpets and trump himself.

As I have always said and experienced, I studied Eugene Debs et al and the early socialist movement in Amerika...you are using the same argument. And that very same socialist movement in the early years 1920ish till very recently, historically speaking was just as racist as any other white group. And trust me when I was in Boston U. I tried many groups. And all I as a Vietnam vet was looking for was a way to fight injustice and racism in Amerika. RACE is at the apex of all interpersonal dealings between Americans. Not class. And class distinctions while real just makes racism more palatable to many many people, that's all.

It has never been about the distraction called classism. NEVER for POC.

That we are agreeing that there is a major situation with this country and it is in regards to a powerful few trying to dictate what everyone else is supposed to be doing while seldom doing it themselves. Based on what I am reading, I feel we are looking at what is the underlying causes of this situation in different ways. And, I wish we could sit and discuss this in a way that would aid us in understanding each other and possibly seeing that we are actually agreeing on this, even though we are not agreeing on the why of it. I agree on the 'Ft. Sumpter' moment, and your assessment of the cause may well be what makes it happen. I just hope the next generation can handle what we could not. However, I do not feel that discussing the class divide makes racism more 'palatable'. Nor, do I think that it is a 'distraction'. Regardless, let us just hope that the intelligent, progressive side wins out when the time comes.

The Grand Old Traitor Party really hate POC. And if that POC happens to be quicker on their feet while exhibiting intelligence that they have NEVER found in themselves, from a woman no less, their disrespect and hate show themselves in a palpable manner... I really am getting ill behind all this white hate in this society. Idiots let their fuhrer warp their reason. Well if all this race shit ends badly, ONE person is responsible and like his COVID response, he will NEVER be able to wash the blood of over 1million deaths and counting from his hands.

That's called giving birth, jackass.

What a sad farce that we are all being forced to deal with the idiocy of people so painfully, deliberately ignorant and disrespectful. Hats off to Dr. Robinson. My head would have exploded with rage.
