So did Chairman Thompson tell the DoJ they could come and look at all the J 6 committee's
work product and take notes about what was in the product but they could not take the
material out of the Capitol Bldg? And would he allow people from the DoJ to make copies and
take them with them?

(14,618 posts)It sounds like Bennie is making them work.
You can't just say "gimme what you have". That is playing games.
If they want the testimony given by person x on a specific day about a specific topic, that is a thoughtful request.
Otherwise all the doj is doing is running the clock out while making noises they are doing something. Again.

This is what will happen. Thompson is telling the DOJ that their months-long effort won't be a candy store giveaway.
If the DOJ makes specific requests for specific purposes, a general guess is that Thompson will comply. But it must be done within the context of mutual and professional respect. Thompson is also looking for information that the DOJ has that will benefit the J6 investigations. Exchanges of information are expected.

(2,336 posts)They are willing to have documents reviewed. Hard to say but I'd expect documents are already in digital format. No one in their right mind creates physical copies of discovery docs though I can think of some who would.
I worked for an attorney who did not trust computers. We would receive discovery docs on computer disk and he would insist that I make physical copies of tens of thousands of pages. So dumb, it was unbelievable. No human could ever actually read those documents in one lifetime but still I had to do it. Cost the clients a ton, and huge waste of paper. He was the one who would go around and turn all the lights out, and berate you if you forgot and left a lamp burning. Tree hugger who didn't care how many trees were destroyed because he didn't trust computers.
