(51,432 posts)has done more harm to the country than anything else over the last 25 years. Dean was on fire. That is why I supported him.

(2,685 posts)Had we been fortunate enough to nominate then elect him in 2004, I am certain he would have reined in the media conglomerates.
It was after he talked about fighting media consolidation on Chris Matthews' show that he stopped receiving positive press. It wan't that long after that when Dean's roar above the sound of the crowd was captured by highly directional mics that captured his roar and almost none of the crowd noise, and they played it as if he was screaming dementedly. Day in, day out, the "Dean Scream" was the subject of media snickers.
His campaign tanked.
But then he was an awesome DNC chair with a 50-state strategy, instead of focusing almost exclusively on the federal level races. A former governor, he understood the importance of the states' legislatures.

(2,685 posts)Media power is often unrecognized, but we see it in the constant airplay of attacks on Biden now.
I was so grateful that his ego was not so hurt that he wouldn't accept chairmanship of the party. We haven't had a great DNC chair since Howard Dean.
