(Or how we can '"Oh, you believe the Moon is REAL? LOL" to people who think the moon landing was faked' but for this conspiracy theory)"Great Replacement" seems to be the latest conspiracy theory making the rounds, but I seem to remember conservatives said a lot of things about...crisis actors, body doubles, lizard people in disguise, using plastic surgery, etc.
Remember that?
*Raises hand*
I do!
Let's go over some of the history, shall we?
Citing videos he viewed on the internet, Trunews host Rick Wiles on Friday suggested that Hillary Clinton is faking her campaign stops, claiming that in videos of the events, the images that appear on the attendees smartphones are not images of the rallies.
Shes nowhere to be seen, the flags are not there, you cant even distinguish what they are looking at, its nowhere to be seen on the stage, he said. Are they faking her personal appearances?
Wiles also alleged that Clintons campaign sent out a body double to speak to the press outside of her daughters apartment after she had fallen ill at a September 11 memorial event: I personally think it was a double. I dont think Hillary passed out on the curb and then an hour or two later was walking around smiling and grinning. That just doesnt happen in normal life.

Marjorie Taylor Greene said in February 2019 that then-Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg -- who died in September 2020 -- didn't really make a public appearance, implying she was replaced by a body double. Greene is now a member of Congress from Georgia and has been selected by her Republican colleagues to serve on the House Budget Committee and the House Committee on Education and Labor.

Bradlee Dean cant believe that people are so stupid that they cant see that Hillary Clinton is obviously using a body double.

Two lawsuits were filed against conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and his Infowars network last night on behalf of the parents of children murdered in the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in 2012, who Jones claimed were crisis actorsa claim he maintains to this day.
The suits filed against Jones last night seek more than $1 million in damages from Jones for proliferating the objectively false claims that the parents of children murdered at Sandy Hook were actors and that no children actually died on the scene of the mass shooting. Sebastian Murdock at HuffPost reported:

Ahead of the crucial Florida primary, Trump released a statement touting the endorsement he received from Pastor Carl Gallups, and then asked Gallups to deliver the invocation at a campaign rally in Pensacola.
Homosexuality has been a major focus of Gallups activism; he has repeatedly warned that same-sex marriage will completely destroy society by bringing about economic turmoil, severe persecution, the enslavement of Christians and divine punishment.
Gallups has also latched on to the Sandy Hook truther movement, which claims that the government faked the murder of schoolchildren and educators in Newtown, Connecticut, in order to justify new restrictions on firearms.
He called the massacre a hoax and said that grieving parents were actually crisis actors.

Qs disappearance (which lasted for nine days until the anonymous figure resurfaced again on Nov. 12) coupled with Trumps defeat in the presidential elections, led to a range of responses from his followers. Some stood their ground and doubled down on the conspiracies, while others began to question whether they themselves had been fooled. Followers (known as Anons) flooded forums, Telegram chats, and Q-friendly spaces to discuss the events, share their despair, and seek comfort from others.
We Have (sic) been told time & again Trump wins in the end!! Dont give up so easily, if you believe dont give up, one poster told a QAnon group of several hundred members on Telegram. Another responded that giving up is NOT an option for me!!
This is not the first time that QAnon believers have faced disappointment. One of the initial claims of the conspiracy theory was that Hillary Clinton would be arrested and imprisoned in 2017. When that did not happen, QAnon followers recalibrated and decided that Clinton had been placed under house arrest and was wearing an ankle bracelet. Even her appearances in public only emboldened them to raise the stakes and claim that the deep state had replaced her with a clone.
Then in 2018, Q claimed that Republicans would dominate the midterm elections and reclaim the U.S. House of Representatives. This, of course, did not come to pass, and while this likely impacted some of Qs followers, the movement only continued to grow over the next couple of years.

Stella Immanuel, one of MAGA worlds leading anti-COVID-19 vaccine experts, claims that many world leaders are clones inhabited by demons whose job is to make laws that will cause people to die. And you know why? Because they are blood drinkers.

Right Wing Bonus Tracks: Rational People Like Us
Bishop Larry Gaiters claims that President Joe Biden, Tom Hanks, and Bill and Hillary Clinton are all dead and have been replaced by clones.

So that immigrant family moving in down the street? Part of that great replacement, right?
... but what about the white family next door, are you sure they're actually white? Are you sure? Conservatives, take a look at your own words before saying you are sure they are.
But don't worry about it. And I'm white. That's what I put down on government forms that demand that information, and I look white. So I MUST be white. Definitely no secret George Soros plastic surgery lab involved in my whiteness, no sir. I'm white. Yes! Yes. Yes... yes.
... yes.

(36,305 posts)Like white folks pretending to be minorities to get gov't contracts?
My great grandmother was an indentured slave from Ireland. Met my great grandfather and got with him after her servitude was over. Three of their sons left Florida and passed for white. We tracked them down. Montana branch wasn't interested; said don't contact them again. California branch was thrilled and wanted more info. Neither family looks African American.
Third son dropped off the face of the earth, but successfully passed. Out of 16 children, three were able to live white.
Remember the white guy who took the DNA test and was like 17% black? Wanted to found an all white town. He was kicked out of their club.
Point is, I guess, that white ain't as white as most people think 😉

(25,684 posts)Unless great grandfather was a person of color.
All four of my grandparents came from Ireland, and trust me, I am very, very white.
When I was a little girl, the elderly aunts would look at me and say, "Ahhh, she has the map of Ireland on here face." Say it with a brogue, and you get the idea. It wasn't until my first trip to Ireland that I understood, as every single person there looked exactly like my brothers and my sisters and my cousins.

(708 posts)I read your post about the "map" and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Warm fuzzies! Long story in our family as to how the Nebraska branch of the family got here. Kids keep telling me I should write it down because some of the youngsters have no idea how we got here. Probably be a future project.

(25,684 posts)A long time after you're gone relatives will want to know. Not now, not in the near future, but a long time out.
I constantly regret that I didn't think to ask my mother or my grandparents various things.
And I think in your case there's a bi or multi racial thing going on, which is even more interesting.

(14,853 posts)The mixtures of tribes and races has been going on for at least 100,000 years - probably since the beginning of sex.
Personally I'd be happier knowing that I'm not just a product of my patrilineal line (father-grandfather-etc.) that never deviated from some probably northern european line. I would much rather think I have the blood of every race coursing through my veins and arteries. Unfortunately I know I don't have enough of the genes that can make and enjoy good music....

(25,684 posts)I'm some trivial percent Sardinian. Apparently several hundred years ago some Sardinians sneeked into my gene pool. And yes, I love it.
