Has it occurred to anyone else that it was the rootin'-tootin', rompin'-stompin',

rough-and-ready, gun-totin' Texas Rangers and their cowboy sidekicks who remained outside Robb School while screaming kids were murdered inside?

Seems like a lot of John Wayne wannabes were revealed to be Barney Fifes.

I thought it was locals and eventually a CBP SWAT team.

I love reading and watching movies about the Texas Rangers.
They certainly are not the local police.

Did you know that two high ranking Texas Rangers came out of retirement in 1934, Frank Hamer and Maney Gault, to hunt down and kill Bonnie and Clyde?
Great movie, "The Highwaymen" tells the story.

I think the OP comparison paints a vivid picture. Dramatic, overstated, colorful.
And I think it is very legitimate point. Texas lawmen love their image as tough, badass, always gets their man.

But here we can clearly see Texas local police as disgraceful cowards who deliberately lock an armed madman in with 2nd graders and do nothing to help them.

Not sure who else was there, but he said he was on the scene as it happened.
