NOT beating a dead horse, but everything I read says that the police protocol..

Before that, police were supposed to wait and try to negotiate with the barricaded suspect(s).
Now, I read that the protocol calls for immediate engagement of the suspect.

Will someone here with actual knowledge of such a protocol please clarify.

the final report comes out. Too many changes keep coming out. I would love to hear why or what appears to be that they stood back for an hour. It’s difficult not to think they’re responsible for some deaths . How the cop who told the kids to yell help and that poor baby yelled help and got killed. as you noted, it was implemented after Columbine.

At least once a year all of the PD and other law enforcement in our area do drills in our actual school buildings, they try to rotate to different buildings in different districts.

The protocol is that as soon as at least three, ideally four or more, LEO arrive at the school, they create their own tactical team and immediately enter the building to "eliminate" the threat. It could be a borough officer, a township officer, someone from the sheriff's office. Doesn't matter.

Another in a LONG list of reasons that having school staff have guns is a horrible idea. They would get center massed with a dozen bullets once LEO entered the building and saw them.

6. We had an active shooter incident at our hospital and the police swept it immediately

They paired off as they arrived and had to get their long guns and vests from their car trunks, but they were in immediiately. Our security team drilled with them yearly in training exercises and the police were well versed in the layout of our large and complex facility. There was no shooting and the weapon reported turned out to be an umbrella tucked oddly into a backpack that one of our docs mistook for a gun. But was gratifying to see the police were as ready and willing as they could be to protect and defend.

7. Leaving children to die while you handcuffed parents in the parking lot while they begged

you to do something all the while wearing protective gear and carrying an AR15 makes the police the biggest cowards ever. And then when they went in after an hour of waiting until kids bled to death in their classroom, they told kids to call out where they were and allowed the f'ing shooter to kill another kid...cowardice and incompetence on display...all should be fired and never work as police again.
