With home test kits being so prevalent, and no guarantees of reporting positive cases, many think the actual number of cases is way up...

I am an example; tested Tuesday, positive, but there is no requirement to self report. of course, I'm still quarantined.....

This drop came in just nine days. I don't think home kits explain the drop in numbers.

... Down from over 13% a week ago.

CT still reports test positivity rates, but doesn't factor in home tests that go unreported.

Still great news though. N.Y. seems to have plateaued as well.

I wonder why the huge discrepancy between the cdc and the nyt.

for whatever reason (these are actual new cases for the day, not 7 day averages, but of course they affect the 7 day averages):

May 16
CDC: 1,851 cases
NYT: 10,473 cases

Other factors include:

1. how many do not an updated booster
2. airline and restaurant protocols
3. future variants

Statistics might be portrayed as 3-4-5 D instead of 2-D.
