It is going to take a lot of advances in science to eradicate all diseases. This is a practical barrier that will one day be breached. It is going to take something more than we have to change the very nature of a human being, since being corruptible is part of the human psyche. This is a practical barrier that exists and would take a lot of different things happening before we can address it.

But, the guns and the gap between the rich and the poor? That is just our choice. There is nothing stopping us from achieving either of those goals except our collective position that there is some mystical force keeping us from getting either done. There is no magical barrier to getting there.

It is because we don't want to. ('We' being used in a collective sense.)

I expect that BS from right-wingers; it's maddening when people who purportedly share a similar worldview take that same stance, resulting in more destruction because that's precisely what they want. They usually don't have kids or grandkids though.
