16. When my now high school junior was in middle school...

It was his first experience as a student in a multi story building. After his first active shooter drill, he asked me if a shooter came to his school and he was in the second or third floor, should he hide or should he jump. He would say “mama, can my doctor fix my broken legs easier than she can fix a bullet hole?” It still takes my breath away.
