9. Katyal's a big part of the problem
He did a lot to get Gorsuch on the court, because buttering up the justices makes Katyal money (his clients pay him to get favorable decisions from SCOTUS.)
"The point is not that Katyal should be disbarred or something for representing a client. The point is that the cases Katyal chooses to take, the arguments he chooses to make, even the firm he chooses to work for, all speak to his values. He cannot separate his politics, whatever he thinks they are, and whatever he wants everyone else to think they are, from his decision to defend Nestle against the threat of potential lawsuits from enslaved children."

46. authoritarianism is built on ability to rationalize the lying, hypocrisy, and denial of reality
needed to create the certainty they're addicted to - what defines authoritariansm - measured sometimes with the uncertainty avoidance index or UAI
sex on the wrong brain theory says that irrational need for certianty, finality, closure is what happens when impatient satisfaction demanding reproductive impulses are directed to brain functions like logic and rational thinking - caused by right handed masturbation - and some humans have inherited a susceptibility to that mental disorder - which helped survival of their ancestors in times of conflict or favored them in civilizations that favored and selected for servitude, lack of empathy, lack of imagination, conformity, etc |

12. Worse than 'weird'. The SCOTUS will overturn precedent on Roe to restrict bodily autonomy freedoms
for 51% of the country, while it will honor precedent on Heller to expand killing freedoms for anyone age 18 or over.

they don't think there is a right to an abortion and they do think there is a right to bear arms.
I think they are wrong, twice, but it's not because of a lack of consistency. |

I remember Scalia releasing two opinions a day apart that used the same concept to justify to diametrically-opposed opinions.

16. After this and Roe is overturned SCOTUS will be completely delegitimized so that when
they try to uphold the stealing of the next election by republicans, American democracy will officially come to an end. It’s our courts and it’s respect for the rule of law and precedent that made America the envy of the world and an economic power. Trump will have officially broken SCOTUS and America and can add them to his long list of failures.

43. It's not really weird, OR hypocritical, based on how the Constitution works.
The basic reading of the Constitution is that things that are protected by the Constitution cannot be left to the states; things that are not protected by the constitution are left to the states.
There is no hypocrisy in saying some things should be left to the states and others should not. The question at hand is, rather, whether something is or is not protected by the Constitution,. *IF* you believe abortion is not protected by the Constitution, then it should be left to the states. That's typically been a matter of whether you accept that a right to privacy, though not explicitly stated in the Constitution, is implicit. *IF* you believe that concealed carry IS protected by the Constitution, then it should NOT be left to the states. That's a matter of how the second amendment is interpreted. You don't have to like (or accept) those arguments for leaving one to the states and the other not, but it is not intellectually unjustifiable or inherently inconsistent. |

30. Given the heavily biased decisions in favor of the religious beliefs of white evangelicals only,
I fear that this radical Court will go even further than overturning Roe and leaving states to choose their own abortion laws. They have already ignored established precedents, just ruled in favor of Maine taxpayers having to support a religious school that practices and preaches hatred of LGBTQ, and now ruled that New York may not pass its own gun safety laws to protect the public. There is absolutely nothing to stop them from ruling not only to overturn Roe but also to deny states the right to allow abortion. They will go back to the 1800# when states passed laws to make abortion illegal. If that happens, we need an underground railroad for abortion.
