2. My greatest hope is that 45 is incarcerated for treason,

thus invalidating all his court appointments, from SCOTUS on down.

and everyone he hired for government positions who are still working.

13. It doesnt' work that way

there is nothing in the Constitution and legal history that would allow that.

Besides, Trump does not meet the legal definition of Treason. Sedition perhaps but not treason.

22. It's A Paraphrasing Of President Jackson...

Who said much the same thing of a decision by the SCOTUS of his time, which he disagreed with. Jackson (allegedly) said “John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it”, referring to Worcester v. Georgia.

The Court relies on its legitimacy and the states/local governments to actually enforce its rulings. If it keeps up with dumbass rulings that undermine its legitimacy (and Injustice “Uncle Slappy” Thomas and his wife keep up their stupidity), states may not be inclined to go along with those rulings…especially blue states.

31. It would be comical to watch the champions of "states rights" try to wrap themselves into a pretzel

trying to disagree with NY just continuing to enforce the law as if the decision never happened!!

10. Yes! All of them. No more of this just voting every four years for President. School boards,

county commissioners, district attorneys, judges, mayors...vote in EVERY election. Other than TDFG, they do not start their political careers running for President.

Start the fire to pack the court and to create term limits.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Start the fire!

16. Biden says that the SC ruling

should deeply trouble us all.

Well, it definitely troubles ME deeply. There goes some of the security that I felt as a citizen of NY. Now, like other locations in the country, we will be subjected to even more gun violence.

I wish there were such a thing as a portable gun detector that individuals could carry around with them to know which people in their vicinity were carrying concealed weapons. Something that would work without needing a wand to be passed over people who might be carrying. At least then we would know who to avoid or at least watch out for.

I am a woman and I have never considered this perspective. Very disturbing indeed.

This could be its own OP. I'd vote it up.

XCOTUS. Welcome to Gilead. Check your lesser rights at the door - you can keep your gun on you. Unless you're in the Justices' neighborhood, of course.

32. Statement by President Joe Biden on Supreme Court Ruling on Guns

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/06/23/statement-by-president-joe-biden-on-supreme-court-ruling-on-guns/

Statement by President Joe Biden on Supreme Court Ruling on Guns
JUNE 23, 2022

STATEMENTS AND RELEASES
I am deeply disappointed by the Supreme Court’s ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. Since 1911, the State of New York has required individuals who would like to carry a concealed weapon in public to show a need to do so for the purpose of self-defense and to acquire a license. More than a century later, the United States Supreme Court has chosen to strike down New York’s long-established authority to protect its citizens. This ruling contradicts both common sense and the Constitution, and should deeply trouble us all.

In the wake of the horrific attacks in Buffalo and Uvalde, as well as the daily acts of gun violence that do not make national headlines, we must do more as a society — not less — to protect our fellow Americans. I remain committed to doing everything in my power to reduce gun violence and make our communities safer. I have already taken more executive actions to reduce gun violence than any other President during their first year in office, and I will continue to do all that I can to protect Americans from gun violence.

I urge states to continue to enact and enforce commonsense laws to make their citizens and communities safer from gun violence. As the late Justice Scalia recognized, the Second Amendment is not absolute. For centuries, states have regulated who may purchase or possess weapons, the types of weapons they may use, and the places they may carry those weapons. And the courts have upheld these regulations.

I call on Americans across the country to make their voices heard on gun safety. Lives are on the line.
