Man chases stripper for 65 miles, then runs her over

Man chases stripper for 65 miles, then runs her over

A man is accused of following a female stripper in his car for 65 miles in northern Wisconsin, and then running her over. The 70-year-old, named as Benedict Sedivy of Cicero Illinois, was charged in Florence County with two felony counts of reckless endangerment and a felony count of aggravated battery.

Sedivy had a large knife when he confronted a 46-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, whom prosectors say he knew was a dancer at an Eagle River strip club.

When the couple tried to escape, Sedivy followed them from an Eagle River hotel to Florence. The woman’s accomplice said that Sedivy’s car hit him twice during the chase, and when they got to Florence, the couple’s car spun into a ditch to try and lose Sedivy. A trucker said he saw both driving past at 90 miles per hour.

Running into a wooded area, the woman decided to talk to the suspect and he carried her on his hood for 150 yards before slamming on the brakes and throwing her into a ditch.

Is there more to the story or did they simply include that information to make it instantly salacious?

Why wasn't it listed in the blurb?
Furthermore, from the article in the OP, she wasn't at work - she wasn't stripping. The attacker simply "knew was a dancer at an Eagle River strip club". They weren't at the club. Why is it relevant?

and he didn't approve of her choice. Maybe the fact that she consented to take her clothes of for money drove him to violence. Maybe he was mad that she enabled the Patriarchy via her choice of money-making opportunities. Maybe he read a thread on DU that said "prostitution is violence" and due to the opaque, confusing semantic nature of the OP's phrasing, he took it as an injunction to commit violence on the nearest person he could find who takes their clothes off for money.

This is, admittedly, speculation. Nevertheless the news story makes apparent that there was some connection between her job and the attacker's motivation. Hence, "relevant".

Jan 2012

Even though, they are outside the club, the customer thinks that she should be a perpetual sex object. I have actually witnessed this, not that I've ever been a stripper. I don't know how often this happens to strippers compared to other women who work with the public. The article does not seem to make it clear if this man had harassed or tried to follow her before, though, or connect it to any other problems that area strippers had.

And I am betting somewhere pot was involved...

How many strippers have to be harmed by cars before we wise up? And who needs an SUV or Sports car (those can go faster than regular cars and hurt more people).

Won't someone think of the kids and strippers?
