They took over from Verizon in my area. I have phone, FIOS internet and TV. Earlier this year they talked me into going to Direct TV from FIOS TV. They said it would save me money and promptly charged me 30 bucks more. Technically it has been reliable and Direct TV is better than FIOS cable.
I've gotten big bills for no apparent reason which then I have to spend hours on the phone (getting handed around to people) getting it straightened out. I have to pay them and then wait a month for the adjustment.
I seem to spend a lot of time keeping these people from jacking up my charges, billing me for unasked services and other BS. I'm really getting fed up with this and thinking of contacting the State Attorney's office. Anybody have similar problems?

(30,724 posts)I live in Illinois.
We have phone and Internet with them. Maybe you just haven't found the right people to speak with. Good luck. That does suck.

(24,324 posts)..for my home land line/dsl and work land line/dsl. It is absolutely the worst telephone company I have ever had and I am 68 . Dealing with them when I moved my business a few miles and had to change my tel and fax number and get new internet set up was living hell. More mistakes than I have time to go into.
The actual tech guys who do the work are very good here- near Rochester, NY, but the "customer service" people are horrendous. It is a monopoly here so no choice.
But I can offer a suggestion. It IS POSSIBLE to get to a sort of 'personal rep. I have one in Arizona-- go figure-- and also one here in Rochester. I call the Rochester guy any time there is a problem and he is very good at fixing Frontier's screw ups..
Of course the once a week or so that the modem connection goes down is just something I have to live with.. No point in calling because they go through the same shit every time. "Have you recycled your modem?" Well, duh !! They have a reputation here of blaming everything on the customer's computer.
So, you have a lot of company... Maybe DU needs a Frontier Support Group. :> )

(386 posts)They offer higher bandwidth now than Verizon did, but their service has been spotty at best.
They'll go weeks with excellent connections then a few days of crap.
This week, my "7M" connection dropped down to less than 1M almost every evening. The fastest it's been at has been 3M.
I'd rather have the reliabilty of Verizon's 3M than crap connections at a higher speed.
