Louisville, Ky.— Muhammad Ali has come home to celebrate his 70th birthday at the facility that celebrates his boxing triumphs and promotes his efforts to help out the underdogs in society.

The three-time world heavyweight champion will bask in the attention he adores Saturday night when his friends gather at the Muhammad Ali Center to celebrate his latest milestone in an epic life that began humbly in Louisville.

Ali turns 70 on Tuesday, and the party in his hometown is the first of five planned in the next couple of months.

Red carpet style in it's grandeur. A friend of mine is one of the executive chefs for the event.

who he was. They think he was just a boxer. Hope younger people learn a little about him. He took his fight against the draft all the way to the Supreme Court.

"No, I am not going 10,000 miles to help murder, kill, and burn other people to simply help continue the domination of white slavemasters over dark people the world over. This is the day and age when such evil injustice must come to an end."
"Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go ten thousand miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights?"

When she was born on January 17, 1964, Ali was five weeks away from fighting Sonny Liston for the title. I remember that fight - I was in seventh grade and lost a dime to a friend betting on Liston against Cassius Clay.

Last time I ever bet against Ali.
