willing to get rid of the filibuster provided we get to 52 on November making it 50 ?
We have been blocked by Manchin and Sinema but if we win more seats are we gonna run into another bump or do we already know ? I

(22,315 posts)A key faction of Democrats in the House, along with Senator Kyrsten Sinema, blanched at the tax hikes. Moderates have been privately coordinating their opposition, and it seems very likely that Manchins sudden opposition to raising taxes on the rich comes not from him, but from them he sometimes takes the heat for fellow Democratic moderates. In this case, he is likely channeling their concerns and passing them off as his own.

(4,336 posts)eliminating the filibuster, besides Manchin and what's-her-name from Arizona...
However, I think they are less willing to buck the will of the majority and to screw the rest of us than those 2. I think they would go along with the overwhelming will of the caucus-- but there HAVE been others. Just saying.
Based on current polling and the GOP's choice of candidates, I hope that we will end up with 52 or 53 senators after this election... but unfortunately I fear losing the House....

(43,252 posts)Some have said they would like to see the talking filibuster brought back, but some are only willing to do a few carve-outs in terms of abolition, mainly on voting rights and abortion, and the SCOTUS, to further complicate things, can and likely would strike those new laws down, at least partially, if not in toto.

The gray area is around support for court expansion.
