Whew. Considering myself lucky today. Not a big deal, but...

My spouse bought a few cases of sparkling water and stacked them in the back of our vehicle.
One of them had tumbled against the window on the drive home, when I opened the hatch, it came flying out, hit the ground on the corner of the box, and split open—it missed my right foot by probably 1/4 of an inch.

I think I'll go do some good deeds. Wow. That would have done some damage.

Yes. I've had a foot injury. And it's terrible being without the use of a foot. C Moon Aug 2022 #8

and fell over while driving, and OF COURSE a jar of spaghetti sauce got loose and rolled against the hatch door--and promptly fell out and smashed into a mess of glass shards and tomato sauce in the garage when I opened the hatch. But at least I didn't almost lose a foot like you, so there's that.

would have been far less debilitating. I quickly started adding weight from not going for walks and having unexpected problems rising from squats from less exercise, at my age a rather scary-fast downhill syndrome.

Congrats. Good deeds sound like a good idea.

I have Peripheral neuropathy must be why I didn't feel anything until I got in the shower. When the cold water hit my shin I felt the gash that happened when I was out there. I have no idea how it happened.
