I know that folks here are elated at the prospect of Bloated Tick behind bars, but ....

and believe me, I hate to present this possibility -- is this when we find out that he wrote himself a pardon??
He knew full well that the missing documents wouldn't go unnoticed. And he still refused to return them, even after DOJ officials talked to him and his lawyers about the boxes of documents in the basement that he still possessed.
He may be dimwitted; but he knows how to stay out of jail.
So, I want to hear the opinions -- can TFG pull out a 'Get Out of Jail Free' card??

He can't simply say he pardoned himself. It would need to be documented that he did it while President.

Add to which, Pardons need to be legally accepted by the recipient, and filed with DOJ (to avoid future prosecution).

No legal scholar I have ever read on the matter believes that is constitutional.

I doubt he had the foresight or relevant knowledge to write himself an advance pardon for every broken crime, so he'd be reduced to writing one or a handful of pardons that blankets his entire collection of disparate actions, and I don't know if that broad of a pardon is legal or even exists.

He will appeal any charges and the worst case scenario is house arrest. His position as TFG will give him some degree of deference. The best we can hope for is that his access to the media will be curtailed and his visitors will be limited. Appeals will take years and he is old. He will wait it out.

That’s the defense. This SC would definitely uphold the Unitary Executive powers.

is to have him utterly disgraced and that he should take down all the MAGAts with him. I want him to send the Republican party into political exile for decades. My dream, which isn't possible, is that the Republican party be reduced to the status it has in California...completely without power.

And, of course, I want him to be totally ignored for the rest of his life.

If I can have all that, I don't care if he goes to prison.
