What if Biden's student loan forgiveness is a smashing success?
What if this program’s resurrects Americans’ belief in our collective good and the ability of government to not only work, but successfully improves the lives of millions of Americans?
We’ve had decades of Republican propaganda that government is the problem. Except, of course, when it comes to enriching billionaires and corporations. Biden is demonstrating an alternative to Republicans’ elitist, dog-eat-dog agenda. What if millions of Americans decide they’ve had enough of Republicans and turn to the Democratic Party for solutions? Could this be fueling the widespread media backlash we’re seeing?

3. Why do you think repubs hate it so much?
RWers hate progressive policies precisely because they work to make life better for people.

4. Because simply, it is a form of wealth redistribution.
Without government "interference", the money would be capital flowing to the investing class.

18. You say "wealth redistribution" like it's a bad thing or something...
![]() The fact is, of course, that "wealth redistribution" is the economy. Wealth is always "re-distributed." It's what economies do, they move wealth around. Controlling the direction it moves is the key element, of course. Pure capitalism will always tend to concentrate wealth, so it needs regulation and oversight to keep it from forming a permanent upper class of oligarchs, which we are pretty close to having right now. Those oligarchs will, of course, fight to retain the privileges that keep money flowing their way. |

15. They hate the poor and middle class
Getting any financial breaks because it will make them uppity and then the poor and middle class may come to EXPECT nice things. Also, it leaves less for the wealthy to loot.
The following filthy rich all had their PPP loans forgiven: Kushner had over $3 Million forgiven, Kanye West had over $2 Million forgiven, Jay-Z had over $2 Million forgiven, Diddy had almost $2 Million forgiven, Khloe Kardashian had almost $1.5 Million forgiven, Jeff Koons had over $1 Million forgiven, Reese Witherspoon had almost $1 Million forgiven, Tom Brady had almost $1 Million forgiven. Funny how we don't hear screaming about these loans being forgiven after so many have been able to get by with NO PPP loans and paid for the cost of the pandemic themselves. |

5. I hope so! But Fox Nooz ain't gonna change.
I hope Biden's success -- and it will be a success -- will get more than a few shaky repubs to see the light. My mother had a saying "Nothing succeeds like success." She was right.

6. It is like the ACA IMHO...there was more done than loan forgiveness...the way the payment is
calculated has been changed for the better.

8. It will only be considered a smashing success
If we are able to push back ferociously and successfully on the garbage currently being pumped out by the right-wing propaganda complex.
Success is perception. |

9. The level of screaming about it from the GOP indicates that it likely will be a huge success.
They wouldn't be having these kinds of conniptions over this if they knew it was going to be a flop. They're terrified that all the things you listed will come to pass, this on top of the Roe v. Wade backlash they're already facing. So, yes. This is what's fueling the media backlash. It's also why they're furiously threatening to prosecute Dr. Fauci, Merrick Garland, the 1/6 committee, the FBI, and anyone other right-wing boogeymen should they gain control of Congress.

11. It's not what if, it's what IS GOOD.
These people already had trouble making payments, that have been on HD for a couple years. What if they were forced to start making payments and they couldn't, DEFAULT.
The Republicons would have been screaming Biden didn't do anything and now it's effecting our economy. BUT NOW the President has done something for the students and the future of this country and the Republicons have done nothing but moan and groan, and nobody that matters is listening. |

20. News Sources
I watched USA news this morning & turned it off within 5 minutes. Couldn't stand how each & everyone was so negative in their accolades to Biden. Unbelievable! I've an American nursing friend who is 100G in debt for her degree. They won't be clear until they're 78. How is repaying her debt after working through a pandemic at such great risk to themself, a bad thing? I will never understand that kind of selfishness.

22. People HATE getting money! That's what many people are saying.
Big thinkers the Republicans!
Ah yes, fighting against student loan forgiveness is one more well thought out, clever, election winning strategy the Republicans have come up with. Republicans have a knack, a genius, a rare gift. to always choose the popular, moral, and strategic side of any issue. See also; abortion Everyone knows, and many are saying, that cutting the debt for millions of Americans will surely be a hated, despised, and wildly unpopular over-reach by the Democrat Party. Sure to be mocked throughout the land. My fear is that this will cause all those millions set receive the filthy $10,000 lucre to organize a "Stop the Stupid Giving Us Credit You Stupid Libtards Rally". Perhaps it will be on the The National Mall, at The Ellipse. Afterwards I fear a mob will form, turn violent, then march down Constitution Ave and invade the US Capitol building. These fine people these fine people will defile the building, kill a few Capitol Police, and get shot dead while breaking into the Speaker's Lobby. Naturally all the while demanding 'The Gubmint' take back that hateful money. |
